Christine: Who do I report a deadly bacteria to?
NY/NJ Baykeeper: Can I have a few more details? Including location, how you know, circumstances etc.
Christine:I was fishing right outside of Keansport. I caught a fish and when it was brought onto the boat another hook on my rig went into my arm. We immediately went to our marina and got to an urgent care facility in Middletown. They took out the hook and gave me antibiotics. However the next morning I woke up with a high fever and to make a very long story short, I was in ICU because I almost died. Three surgeries later I still have an open wound which is healing. The infectious disease Dr. told me that I contracted vibrio vulnificus and some form of streptococcus. So that's how I know. It happened on 6/25/17.
NY/NJ Baykeeper: Wow. I hope you are feeling better.. get well soon! I would report that incident to NJDEP 18779276337
Christine: Ok thank you.
