#testosterone levels

On sustanon, peak testosterone levels should always be in the 25-30 nmol/l range, and trough no lower than 8-10 nmol/l. If you’re not achieving those levels with your current injection schedule, you might need your dose or injection frequency adjusting.

Yeah, I know, I’ve talked to my doctors about it, though I appreciate the reassurance.

I don’t think they have to compare me to female ranges, especially because my doctors ordered a male test (as I can tell from the test name). I don’t think it’s my doctors’ fault at all though, they’re honestly great. It’s MyChart.

It depends on the type of testosterone you’re on, but no, your levels would generally reach a plateau where you’re ‘using’ testosterone at about the same rate that you’re administering it - and dosages are calculated so that this plateau is more or less within ‘standard’ male testosterone ranges. Normally the hope is that you’d reach this steady state after 3-6 months (which is part of the reason clinics don’t tend to ask for blood tests until this point), but it can take a little longer to get steady levels for some people, so your levels at three months on a given preparation aren’t necessarily what they’ll be at the six month mark (especially if the doctors recommend adjusting your dose!)

There’s one notable exception to this - particularly on nebido, people sometimes end up in testosterone retention, which means their testosterone levels are not really lowering between each injection and so each successive injection is causing higher and higher testosterone levels. This is fairly unusual, but would be picked up in blood tests.

Ideally you should get the peak and trough from the same injection, in case of variance between injections.

It would be best not to do anything without the doctors at least knowing about it, but it might depend on how helpful your GP is - if they provide the prescriptions, you could ask them about it and they might agree that increasing the frequency of injections is a good idea pending further instructions from Gendercare. If both peak and trough testosterone levels are low, just increasing the frequency is the most likely course of action, but it does depend on whether there are any other flagged issues in your bloods.

You can also contact Gendercare to follow up and see if this prompts a response. In general though I’d hold off on doing anything until you’ve spoken to either your GP or Gendercare - apart from anything else, if you start needing to order your prescription more frequently than your prescription indicates, it might lead to problems with getting repeats sorted.
