#test piece

Intricate, intertwining patterns incorporating animals and plants were popular decorations on jewellery and accessories like strap-ends which embellished drab clothing. Minute and elaborate designs demanded time and skill to make, and emphasised the wealth and status of their fashion- conscious wearers. Scraps of bone were used like an artist's sketchbook to develop and practice patterns before committing them to more expensive materials.

This was mostly an experiment to see how well my style translates to digital.

There was a really pretty sunset a couple of days ago and I wanted to paint something with similar lighting; I struggled with painting the sky itself though and I think it probably shows with this piece. But at least now I know this is an area to practice more on, I want to try again doing some smaller sky paintings soon and see if I can get better.

I got some watercolor markers so I made a little piece to test them out. It was made yesterday but I dated it 2018 because I’m an idiot.
