A version of Fight Club where the eponymous cult does not execute its series of bombings at the end but rather follows the self-destructive logic of its narrative actions in some quiet act of self-immolation. Society collapses anyway because the overclass and underclass are bound as a singular holistic entity despite their mutual contempt and the organism cannot survive the death of any part (if an Amphisbaena wants to kill its other head, it does not matter whether it bites the other neck or its own). The skyscrapers don’t explode - they collapse from the untended foundations.
