Live service games (esp free to play mobile) sometimes sends out player feedback surveys. When you do this, do you get any sort of identifying information linked to the feedback? Like would you know if Feedback_A is from a free account and Feedback_B is from someone who spent money on the game?
It depends on how the survey data is collected. If it's collected from in-game or from a place that you're logged in via your game account, then yes - we have total knowledge of who you are (minus any information necessitated by legal privacy requirements), how much you've spent, what you've spent on, what region you play in, how many hours you spend playing, and so on.
If it is from a normal web site that doesn't require you to log into your account, it is sometimes generally treated as if it were mostly anonymous (the region you're browsing from, for example, is still still visible via IP lookup). If you have any tracking cookies in your browser history, it is possible for the site to gather more identifying information about you as well. Some big tech companies also do some pretty sneaky stuff with their website code - [LinkedIn was recently discovered to scan (quietly) for 6000+ specific browser extensions whenever you visit the website in a massive data scraping measure].
This information is aggregated and cross-referenced for metadata - we might not know exactly whether respondent A spent money or not, but we do know that respondent A is from the USA/Canada region in Central Standard Time, and that roughly X% of players from that region spend $Y every month and so forth. This information gathering generally isn't to find out about individual people (unless those individuals are particularly notable like the extreme whales whose individual spend is a significant portion of our total revenue), but to identify trends and overall sentiment across the player base. We need to know who likes what (and how many of them there are) so that we can make sure that the most players get at least some of what they want us to make.
