hi this will be my first winter in korea and i have no idea how to dress?? i know layering is essential but i'd like to know specifically what kind of clothes you would wear on a normal day out to school, weekend outings, etc. (p.s im talking more december/january months when the weather goes below freezing!)
I wear mostly skirts and dresses in general, so I still wore a lot of those during the winter, I’d just always put on fleece-lined or thermal tights underneath. I totally recommend picking up a few pairs. (If you’re tall, you should bring them with you from your home country for fit reasons…) I even wore them under my jeans on the super cold days. You can buy thermal undershirts as well. Invest in a really thick, warm winter coat, preferably something with down lining inside. Don’t worry about fashion so much — during the coldest months, everyone wears giant puffer marshmallow jackets, so you won’t be alone. :3 Bring some good boots as well, because Korea has tons of hills, and you don’t want to be falling all over the place if it snows.
I’d say my typical day to day outfit was: thermal tights, skirt, cami, sweater, thick down jacket, warm boot socks & combat boots. Maybe a scarf or hat as well. If you realize you don’t have enough warm clothes, just head to Edae and you can buy hats, scarves, gloves, sweaters, etc. for ~10,000원 each.
