Summer says later when Ted has become āRickifiedā and drags Morty away from the table(with Beth telling him to), āThatās a troubling family dynamic. We all know that right?ā
Ted recognizes Mortyās voice and is clearly a bit weirded out and surprised that this kid is the one who called with the space ship, and not only is he a child, but heās his grandson that he should be protecting from all of this.
Even his subconscious realizes that their ārelationshipā(platonic, only platonic and familial since grandpa and grandson) is weird. Itās entirely too codependent. This 14 year old kid is tasked with making sure his grandpa gets home safe in that state. Itās an incredibly high stakes situation. Do they get in worse situations all the time? Yes, but Ted doesnāt know everything. His friends donāt either which is why when theyāre all awkward after Morty says it. One of them starts grabbing stuff from the ship like theyāre unpacking immediately to avoid some type of conversation about it just like Beth will eventually.
Summer says when Ted has become fully āRickifiedā and drags Morty away from the table(with Beth telling him to), āThatās a troubling family dynamic. We all know that right?ā Beth, instead of saying that it is troubling(which it is), says that they can talk about later. It all comes full circle. The regular people realize it. The family realizes it. Still, no one talks about it.
Ted and the guys hung Marjorieās necklace above the pilotās seat in their spaceship.
Ted was what Rick meant to do when he swapped his and Jerryās minds. He proved himself right a little. He told Jerry that he became the smartest man in the universe, because of his own efforts, not because heād been born with a ābrain privilege.ā The thing that really solidified Rick as the smartest man was portal travel.
Ted couldnāt make portal fluid, because he didnāt need it. Rick learned how to make portal fluid, because he had to have it to get revenge on Prime. He had to make it himself, because he couldnāt get the recipe from Prime like the other Ricks. Ted didnāt need to go to other universes to avenge Marjorie. Once he had taken over his tech, C137 was Ted until he hit the button
The weird thing is, even though, Ted didnāt need portal fluid, he gave up the day that he ran out of it. Maybe, it was just another excuse like telling Morty that he deserved his grandfather.
Ted giving up and staying in Rickās house instead of going home.
Marjorie staying up late in the bowling alley, because her mother died and she doesnāt want to go home.
Rick still staying with Morty, his archenemyās grandson, even after he had killed Prime. Rick staying with the family instead of going to an empty house in a dead world.
*edit: I didnāt write this after watching S9E8. It was hanging out in my drafts. Rick admitting to Morty outloud, plainly,(M already knew it) that he was bait and he shouldāve left after killing Prime. omg. šØš§š¦

When Rickās holograms start talking to Ted, one of the things that he says is that it isnāt fun to be a god. Ted starts to understand after he lives in his shoes for a little while. He had friends that couldāve understood his grief. Ted gives them the chance. That starts changing when they all want something from him. He tells himself that he can deal with that. They were all he had left. What Ted(and Rick) couldnāt deal with was being the smartest man who ever lived and still being unable to save the love of his life. How all that intelligence was useless when it couldnāt save her. And his friends just wouldnāt be able to understand that so he shuts them all out. Until eventually the only one left to shut out is himself. He presses the red button.
Morty easily talks back to Ted, because he knows that Ted wonāt hurt him. When Ted is changing back and says that heās doing it for Morty, Morty replies, āIf that makes you feel better.ā While completely wasted, Ted tells Morty, āYouāre a nice kid. Aaa-ah, a good boy.ā Contrasted with Rick while completely wasted, āEvil boy. Wicked boy.ā
I donāt think that Rick hits Morty. He doesnāt not not hurt him though. āGo get crystals for me!ā Shouted angrily at him, and Morty reacts(anxious frown) by immediately leaving instead of dealing with him. Ted, on the other hand, was weirded out by Morty being the one making sure that Rick got home from the vacation. He also apologizes after almost shredding him whilst throwing away his things from the bowling alley.
He walks on his tiptoes around Rick. If heās in a nice mood, Morty speaks more freely. If not, he tries to get away or get him off his back like marching away when he finds out about Reese.
Two things about the first and second episodes of Season 9..
1. Has Jessica been shown since she became a ātime godā? If so, time prison and Eyepatch Morty team up?
2. Also, did Ted use the exact same type of device to pause time exactly like Morty did the family? āI mean, itās messy but so are you.ā(Evil Morty to Rick about messing with time) āA lot of people freezing time these days.ā EM also said that Rick showed him the device, not the blueprints.
