got incredibly mixed feelings on There's Something About Morty. On one hand i loved the animation, the fights were the perfect mix of epic and goofy, and Rick's attitude towards the whole thing was pretty believable
on the other, Evil Morty's entire personality seems to have flipped somewhere in-between seasons: antagonizing Morty Prime instead of surreptitiously extending him an olive branch, using the omega device to threaten C-137 into hanging out with him instead of using it to threaten him into staying away. Not to mention that "cool-headed" and "competent" - the two adjectives i would've used first and foremost to describe him previously - don't seem to apply anymore
and i'm not even entirely averse to this development, or to Evil Morty losing - he was always destined to lose in the end, presumably - but for me to be on board it would have to be an actual development, not a flipped switch. Look, showrunners, i get it, it's hard to drag a character into the plot if their main established desire was to be left alone, and you've given them all the means of achieving it. Really, i sympathize. But this was not a good way to solve that issue
so yeah, since i used to condsider EM one of the most unique and interesting antagonists in Western animation, it all was a pretty big disappointment for me. Was this truly the confrontation he'd been built up 7+ seasons for? Lame, if so.
