When AI becomes your chore buddy!
When AI Gets Involved in Your Job Interview
I just wanted to test my mic before my interview.
One simple question: “Can you hear me?”
Siri was the first to speak, sharp and judgy, like an older sister:
“Mic works. But that collar, maybe iron it. Confidence is key.”
Alexa chimed in immediately, the eager little sister:
“Do you want me to order a blazer? Or coffee? Or both? I can schedule it for rush delivery.”
Cortana, sweet but panicky like a mama, reminded me:
“Breathe. Smile. Don’t forget water. Hydrate first. Again, breathe.”
Google Assistant, full-on tita energy, piled on:
“Did you eat breakfast? Check your resume formatting. Make sure your font looks professional. Also, maybe ask if they provide health benefits. And, just in case, apply abroad. Higher salary, better perks. Take vitamins. Quick walk before the call to feel energized.”
Bixby, the awkward cousin, suggested a timer.
Clippy popped up like a dramatic lola:
“It looks like you’re writing a resume. Don’t forget bullet points. Life lessons: always double-check your work.”
And ChatGPT, the over-explaining cousin, started drafting answers to every possible question imaginable.
The advice kept coming faster and faster:
Siri: “Answer confidently. Don’t mumble.”
Alexa: “Smile! Speak clearly!”
Cortana: “Pause. Nod. Again, breathe.”
Google Assistant: “Remember health benefits. Ask about sick leave. Apply abroad too.”
Bixby: “Set a reminder?”
Clippy: “Don’t forget bullet points.”
ChatGPT: “Here’s a sample answer for the first five questions, and a strategy for behavioral questions.”
My palms were sweaty. My heart raced. My laptop felt like a full Filipino family meeting in my room, supportive, dramatic, and totally overwhelming.
Finally, the recruiter’s call popped up. I answered.
And everything was.. silent.
The mic was fine. The notifications, the advice, the chaos. They hadn’t actually happened.
It had all been me, over-preparing, absorbing every tip, every possible scenario, every well-meaning over-involvement into my own brain.
By the time I finally sat down for the interview, I was calm, ready, and confident.
All the imaginary chaos? Gone.
All the advice? Somehow absorbed.
I realized then..
You don’t need a hundred opinions, reminders, or extra prep.
All you need is to do your best and trust yourself. 💛
It wasn’t AI interfering. It was me, running way too hard on prep energy.
sometimes you will see the most beautiful heart wrenching thought provoking experimental puppetry show at a theater seating 100 people and have your life rocked. and then you will see shakespeare put on by a extremely well regarded theater and have it be the most boring soul sucking bullshit youve ever seen in your fucking life.
this is called being a theatre tech in minneapolis
