teacake in my country/region is just a cake thats like supposed to go w tea right. its called teacake here but its the humble vanilla spongecake

so i figured oh teacakes from around the world is like each country is gonna have different type of cakes served according to thier version of tea

but also theres the like. actual block of tea. thats also called a teacake. idk i think i first read the term in some danmei or manhwa or smth

favorite thing about them:  I really like his determination, and how that allowed him to take control of a large organization as a teen so that he could use it for his needs.  He’s a very driven person, and he’s not afraid to step on someone to beat Near, which makes a super interesting character design.  It also makes his final self-sacrifice even more meaningful.

least favorite thing about them:  Not much, honestly.  His negative qualities add to his character so much, and he’s not supposed to be a super good person, so it’s more difficult to pick things I actually dislike.  If I had to pick something, I’d say that I find his English dub voice a bit annoying.

favorite line:  “I’ll kill anyone who get’s in my way.  I’ll be the number one.”  Literally nothing is more important; he’s allowed his his life to revolve around a subjective test conducted by one (corrupt) orphanage.  I’m pretty sure this quote is after he’s left as well, so it’s literally meaningless.

brOTP:  Beyond!  Even though we have no explicit proof that they interacted, they sure do have a lot in common.  I mean, how many orphanages can claim that that two of their kids set themselves on fire at around the same age, about 8 years apart?  B’s chaotic energy really compliments Mello’s, and I think it would be interesting if they were close enough to really connect while at Wammy’s.

OTP:  I ship him with Matt and Near pretty equally, I can’t decide since he really just does not have many interactions.  He showed some pretty genuine remorse for Matt’s death, and it would be interesting to see Matt bring out a totally different side of him and help him heal from more recent physical and deep-seated emotional trauma post-explosion.  Alternatively, I will always be down for a good rivals ship, and Near and Mello are a textbook example.  They push each other to be better, and they get under each other’s skin enough to keep things interesting.  i wish we could have seen more variance in their interactions.

nOTP:  Idk, people ship him with Light and I don’t really see that.  I don’t think they clash in the “right” way; their differences would just drive them to genuinely hate each other, unlike L and Light or Mello and Near, who have enough in common to connect despite their differences.

random headcanon:  asdfg I headcanon that he was interested in physics as a kid, and that he would build and study simple machines even as a very small child.

unpopular opinion:  I find his English dub voice a bit grating, honestly.
