🌼 - do they have any vices or bad habits?
Jason has an unfortunate habit of keeping secrets without really meaning to. Mostly things he thinks are his problems, and he has no desire to make them anyone else’s problems. He recognizes a similar behaviour in Lorath and has to sit with some of the old arguments he’s had in the past about doing that very thing.
When he was younger, he was restless and impulsive. Could not sit still, would often touch things before he remembered he shouldn’t. That eventually became an entirely different problem when he learned how to teleport. He knows better than to touch cursed shrines, but he does still have the distinctive need to move and sometimes that means he’s jumped before he’s fully understood where he’ll land.
His almost flippant use of manipulating heat and cold to avoid the weather may not be a bad habit, but it’s earned him some disapproval over the years. (Jason couldn’t care less about that, not when it’s useful. And it keeps Lorath more at ease sometimes.)
Jason doesn’t drink much, but he does enjoy good alcohol. If it isn’t good, it isn’t worth it.
🎠 - what hobbies do they have?
When he has the time and materials, he does enjoy embroidery. It started out as a more practical skill for mending his own things between towns. Or stitching his own runes and glyphs into things. It developed into something he would do just for the enjoyment of it when he could.
Less practical is his fondness for blending his own teas and tisanes. Things with little in the way of magical property usually, sometimes with some herbal benefit, sometimes not. One of the blends he came up with was a soothing blend of flowers and dried fruit, it’s a little different every time he has the opportunity to make batch, but there are a few components that have to be included or it’s just not the same.
Jason does have an old journal with him still containing pressed flowers and leaves from places he’s been. Each one labelled with what it is, where it came from, and when he’d acquired it. It’s served as something of an herbalist’s guide more than once. Some of the inclusions are repeated just because he liked the way a particular flower looked.
- do they play any instruments?
While he does know how to play the lyre, and can do so pleasingly enough, he hasn’t had one to play in a few years. He hasn’t looked all that hard for a replacement, despite the fact that he does miss having the option to play. (He might have found one in Scosglen at some point, but it’s weeks before he can sit down to learn the particulars of the new instrument and actually play it.)
Understands the principle of keyed instruments like the pipe organ, but hasn’t had much chance to practice playing himself. He would if given the opportunity, and it wasn’t anywhere near the Cathedral of Light. There aren’t a lot of those in Estuar I don’t think, but he does love the sound of them.
🥀 - do they have any favourite scents?
Jason loves the smell of a brewing storm. When the air is cool and crisp, heavy with the expectation of rain, that itching bite of what might be lightning later. When the storm arrives and everything smells cold and clean, and it’s different than the smell of snow and winter’s frost.
There are flowers he finds particularly pleasing, lavender, violets, yarrow, and apple blossoms. Spices like anise and clove are also things he enjoys. He loves the scent of juniper berries and oak moss. Juniper is a fragrance that seems to follow him around.
More common and almost always easily found scents he’s exceptionally fond of are woodsmoke, warmed beeswax, and fresh sweet hay.
