Well, I don't know a lot of people, so I'll tag them politely and without forcing them (I'm lying)😚

Like, yes, he gets candy and stuff, but imagine being treated like a child of so much force as crybaby? "Look, I have a basket full of candy for you! 😊😊😊" "Please don't be angry, look, how about eating candy??😅😅🥰" this is a technique used to deal with babies and children. Imagine applying this to a 17/18 or more older (depends on your hc preferences) year old male. It's not a surprise that he gets angry when people insinuate frailty against and try to manipulate him with candy or conversations.

He takes advantage of his cute and "naive" appearance to get what he wants. But when people really treat him like the cry one, when he not just accepts to supply his wills, he get angry. Because be amazed, he truly hate all this. He wants to to be strong, he also wants to protect, so much so that in Dark Fate Kanato spent a lot of time serious, flustered in thoughts, and frustrated trying to protect Yui. Probably even thinking that being worthy of concern was synonymous with being weak. Kanato may be selfish, but he doesn't deny that he secretly thinks he's a loser. He is insecure about his height. His appearance "My purple hair makes me look like her. I look more like her than those two maggots." And boom, half an hour looking at his mother's painting. Do he want so badly to feel loved like that? Hm, still, he's insecure about everything. I wonder if at least 1 time he's ever stopped to reflect on himself, and if he just ended up gulp that cowardice it and going any way he could. He could have turned it around, but I think he just opted for the easiest. Despite he's not like a real empath human, Kanato just acquires that sweetness and understanding, evolves as a character later with Yui's true good heart (Yui thank you for making these distant dreams come true, I love you so much 😭😭)

You realize that his brain and mind is not well developed when you see him frozen in time, as if he were intact in centuries past his childhood. The only thing that really keeps him alert about things is the strategies for paranoia and trauma he's gotten in the course of his life. Even though all this cuteness and crying is not a farce, Kanato can be the type of highly sensitive beings (at least out here there really are people more sensitive and sentimental than others, in physical, mental, spiritual senses etc) idk if this applies to him but he's definitely the MOST SENSITIVE of all. Kanato was the most clinged to his mother, the real babyboy, the mother's prince who didn't accept evil or simply adopted a lot of red flags to deal with everything. SHE WAS LOOKING for him >>>looking for him<< to sing for her. He sighed but continued. Throats were burning and bleeding but even though he didn't like it or it was an obligation, he continued. His heart is so broken that he still craves all that sweetness he didn't get in home with the whore that were his mother and father. He stays in that loop, things turn according to the ideal he created for him in so many centuries alone. He wants to give and receive the lap he didn't have, even though he have to act childish or asshole to get at least a bit of this.

Kanato is a very aesthetic guy, he must be so cool and sweet apart from all that stupid sarcastic little crybaby unheee unheee buaaa buaaa coping. Imagine trying something against him, I stop to think how difficult it would be to deal with him, because he himself — along with other diaboys and especially Laito, already use red flag masks. Imagine trying something against him, talking, offering candy, or just trying not to get killed. It is a pity.

He hates himself while at the same time feeling superior. An idiot who has hated women, God and the whole world for unresolved hurts.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but was this really the only way out he had?

He can be sadistic and have a wretched ego to do all this... but ugh.
