Enjoy the strong tastes of grilled sausage, melted provolone, and peppers and onions sauted in butter. This Sausage and Pepper Burger is the perfect mix of savory and slightly sweet. It will be a hit at any barbecue.
Ingredients: 4 sausage patties. 4 burger buns. 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced. 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced. 1 onion, thinly sliced. 4 slices provolone cheese. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard. 1 tablespoon olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. Fresh basil leaves for garnish.
Instructions: Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and peppers. Cook until softened and slightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside. Grill sausage patties until fully cooked, approximately 4-5 minutes per side. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of provolone cheese on each sausage patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese. While the sausages are grilling, cut the burger buns in half and toast them on the grill until lightly browned. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and Dijon mustard to create a sauce. Assemble the burgers by spreading the sauce on the toasted buns. Place a sausage patty with melted cheese on each bun. Top with the sauted peppers and onions, and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Serve the Sausage and Pepper Burgers hot, and enjoy!
