Throwing up a little hobby/life update. Finally got through all my BS scheduling garbage at work. I now have enough energy to actually do things.
My printer is up and running again so I decided to try out some water washable resin and it's been phenomenal. I had 1 print failure due to me not leveling the build plate well enough through the entire Kg of resin. Everything came out perfectly after that one hangup. It's great being able to print unavailable variants and terrain again. (Mandatory reminder to support your LGS even if you print)
I also got a decent amount of progress on my Battletech minis as well. Currently working on a Magistracy of Canopus versus Free Worlds League thing to help my friends get into the game. Grabbed some FWL and MoC water transfers to add that little extra level of detail. I made sure that I had a Griffin and Wolverine in mind as well for quick tutorials. The Magistracy Wolverine isn't part of the lance, but making sure there was some theming for the 1v1 intro felt like it might help some players. Yes, I know I got the Rifleman's scheme backwards. Knowing the Purple Parakeets it's completely on brand so I'm not fixing it.
Lastly, I think I finally found an LGS to call home again. The only thing that sucks is that it's just over an hour away. Worth the drive though. They have this in their bathroom on the wall.
What causes swayback?
Weakness, essentially. Factors that contribute can include age, mechanical stress from riding, underdeveloped back muscle from poor posture/inability to collect, and genetics. Critically, a long back is far more likely to sway. Imagine balancing a board on two bricks and standing on it - the longer the board, the more it’ll sag in the middle when weight is applied. A short back is considered ideal for a saddle horse because it’s inherently strong and makes collection easier, so horses with short backs will be more likely to assume naturally good posture and develop the muscle necessary to handle a rider’s weight and move in a healthy way. Something to consider is that this is less of an issue for horses that aren’t ridden - harness breeds will often have longer backs and that’s not necessarily a flaw, but is certainly something to be aware of when considering what activities you’ll be asking of them.Â

I bought a book!
I went by the thrift store and got this book since I thought my grandma may like it but look!
It contains a bit about sway back!
It contains a lot of things like for wide shoulders. Wide back. And contains alteration information for larger ladies too! And for even big arm alteration methods too. Which is a problem I know a lot of ladies have. (I wear tank tops myself to avoid this problem)
And...
It's just the more I look the more I find wonderful! It just has all this sort of thing. Just going 'people are different patterns do not account for this here is how you change the pattern for you'
It makes no statement. No judgement for even larger ladies. Just going 'add here and here and you will have what you need'. Its beautiful. I've never actually read a sewing book like it! Most of the time it is just 'cut the pattern put it together bam!' But there is just so much to this little book.
I cant heap enough praise on this book.

5 Figures for a nine year old Andalusian...built like this. Whoo boy. Yikes. That sway back and only nine? D: (they do have videos, and he’s a decent mover- just so, so, upside down when he works).Â
So uh
I’ve probably mentioned it before but I’ve had back pain for forever now. You might have noticed me reblogging some chronic pain stuff over the years
Well I just got done at the chiropractor and
It’s worse than I thought.
You see, I thought I just had a small problem that a couple professional cracks would fix
But no.
First of all there’s one little guy on my upper back that’s a bit crooked but will be fixed no problem
Then we get into my mid back where I have the arthritis of a 40yo at 26
And finally my lower back, the root of all my problems.
So you know how spines are supposed to be straight? Well I have what’s called a swayback and apparently it’s a ‘pretty massive’ one. Basically I have a very pronounced curve inward.
Nothing is really permanent though except the arthritis, I just have to get everything realigned and do exercises to strengthen my core to keep everything in place once it’s where it need to be
Also apparently one of my hips is narrower than the other but that’s unrelated
Stretching like this is way more painful than we make it look.
