I have a sulphite allergy.
...And it’s a bit of a bugger. As I write this I’m still recovering from a mild suprise reaction, and probably will be for the next ~24 hours.
I’ve tried, since identifying my allergy, to find resources on what foods to avoid, but the labeling of sulphites below the high concentrations in wine etc. is almost non-existent. Unfortunately I’m pretty sensitive to even relatively low concentrations of sulphites, especially if I’ve ingested alcohol, so I’ve had to learn about a lot of things the hard way.
Sulphites are a particular breed of chemicals that are usually utterly harmless to humans, and such widely used as a food preservative. Some people have an intolerance to sulphites, which usually manifests in headaches after having high concentrations and sometimes athsma attacks can be triggered by them, to my understanding. Sulphite allergies are significantly rarer, hence the lack of resources on the matter and when I spoke to my GP about it, I was told there was nothing they or the allergy clinic could do for me other than recommend that I try to avoid foods that make me sick.
So, here under the cut is a master list of all the things I’ve discovered so far that I personally have to avoid (be it by research or by trial and error), ranked according to what kind of sulphite concentrations they contain and how I personally react to them:

I’ve cut out a lot of things that make me breathless and cause asthma. The final thing to occur was sensitivity to sulphites and sulphur dioxide in food. This article parallels the problems I had. It’s a matter of cutting out grape based foods, dried fruits, garlic, dried onion and processed foods containing sulphur dioxide or sulphites. Doing so means I can enjoy a fuller life in which I can…

Why the fuck do things not have warning labels on them for sulphites? I don't like being suprised by my lactose - free milk and my coca - cola making me sick.
Fuck you, alcohol companies who add sulphites to your drinks.
I hate sulphites so much. My list of forbidden drinks is now quite extensive, and forgoing the mulled wine this Christmas might just finish me off, but I'd rather never, ever repeat last night's vomiting, motor functions vanishing and memory blackout. Today's upset stomach has also upset me. I am death incarnate rn.
