If you work with deities, say you’re really into their myths

If you work with the Hellenic Pantheon, you could get the Iliad/Odyssey and say you’re reading it for school(if you’re in school)

Altoid alters are something I haven’t heard anyone mention in a while

I finally cleaned and tidied my altar! To energetically clean I used a cleaning potion (made by a wonderful witch friend, it has cedar, sage, palo santo and sandal) and I light an incense, this time it was of lavender, handmade with dried herbs harvested close to home.

Things that make me feel extra witchy lately, feat. my lil lizard dude earring and new jewelry I've found at flea markets and 1 thrift store find throughout the month

The Holiday season is one of those magical times of year where witches can go about their witching and go unnoticed if they wish to since many modern Christmas traditions either have Pagan/witchy roots or can easily be made magical simply by doing things with purpose and intention.

During the holidays, candles are /everywhere/ at this time of year, which is great news for us witches! No one will question at all why your home is covered in flaming beauties. Since colour correspondence charts are everywhere and easy to find, I thought I’d talk about candle placement. Candles give off energy and can charge a space but they aren’t great absorbers of energy (at least for me,) So placing them in areas with an excess of hot energy can be too much. 

Some places I love to place candles: 

- By the front door -  you know how big stores have those massive heat or cooling vents right at the front door to regulate temperature? Candles in the entrance way can do the same thing with energies. If you enchant your candles, you can create wards to only allow positive energies and spirits to enter, or you can enchant them cleans any energies that come through to keep your home in balance with your own energies instead of getting all messed up with the stuff that your guests all bring in. 

- In the kitchen - I feel like you wouldn't even need to enchant kitchen candles specifically in order for them to put good energies into any meals you prepare. You could enchant them if you’re having other people bring meals or pot-luck style gatherings to add positivity (or anything else you want to add) to the food others bring in as well. 

 - On dining room tables - this sort of has the same effect as candles in the kitchen, but since it’s a very social setting, it can have a great effect on the mood of the room and if your family tends to have tense holiday meals together, you can enchant them to bring harmony and understanding to the space. 

- In guest rooms - If any room in the house has stagnant energy followed by a whirlwind of strange energies when people come through to stay for the holidays. Before your guests come, light some candles and maybe some smoke cleansing to get that stagnation away and then have them lit in there at least once a day to keep it moving and positive. 

 - Near decorations that have a specific intent (like greenery etc) - The candles being near (but at a safe distance from) your purposeful decorations will help amplify and spread those item’s intention.

 - Outside - Having candles in hurricane candle holders might not be the most common thing, but it certainly won’t raise any unwanted eyebrows. It can do similar things to having candles in an entrance way, but any wards you have will have a much larger radius and your positivity will spread to more people and anyone who passes your property.

Scented candles are really not talked about much in the witchy community and I have no clue why! The scent notes that a candle has can be used as correspondences to your intent, and then the flame can work to activate, amplify and spread your enchantments/intentions/spells.

Here are some popular seasonal candle scent notes correspondences:

* Remember that correspondences are a rather personal thing. While historical uses are important, I mainly write correspondence lists based on the energies I feel and medicinal uses of the item. You may not get the same feeling as I do from an item, and that’s totally okay.

Almond - love, fertility, money drawing, wisdom

Apple - love, fertility, abundance, marriage, wisdom, afterlife/immortality, healing, beauty, cleansing, protection, banishing

Candy Cane - nostalgia, childlike wonder, innocence, peace, settling nervous energies, sweetness, cleansing

Cedar - comfort, cleansing, longevity, preservation, protection, growth, summoning spirits. (one of my favourite scents)

Cinnamon - Warmth, energy, circulating/moving energies, sweetness

Clementine - Joy, sweetness, refreshment, attracting positivity, good compartmentalizing in life

Cloves - pain relief (physical and emotional,) high energy, moving energies,

Cranberry - perseverance, action, healing

Fir (balsam) - clarity, sealing/binding, cleansing, protection, warding, longevity

Juniper - cleansing, motivation, health, energy, protection, prosperity (another of my favourites)

Lavender - calm, peace, sleep, healing, cleansing, mood boosting/banish depression and anxiety

Nutmeg - luck, love drawing, psychic energy, money drawing

Mint - cooling hot energies, settling nervous energies, peace, settling stomach health issues, refreshing energy, cleansing

Orange - Joy, abundance, health, refreshment, attracting positivity, good compartmentalizing in life

Pine - protection, cleansing, new beginnings, clean breaks, grounding, growth

Plum - fertility, love, protection, cleansing

Pomegranate - fertility, abundance, wishes, attraction

Rosemary - improving memory, studying, cleansing, healing, banish nightmares, past lives, banishing, faerie work

Vanilla - Harmony, peace, innocence, childlike wonder/sweetness

Subtle Yule Witching - 1- Decorating with Plants ✨🌲🌱🌿🌾🌹🍊✨

The veil is ever thinner and Samhain is swiftly approaching. The last new moon before Samhain is a great opportunity to prepare yourself and your space for the upcoming holiday! As always, here are a few more subtle witchy tips for those who prefer to keep things quieter:

🌑 Take some white wine vinegar, water, and your favorite essential oil and clean off all your high-trafficked areas. While you might be killing germs, clean with the intention of removing all negativity from your space.

🌑 Sprinkle herbs for protection just outside your doors - basil and rosemary are both excellent for this purpose. 

🌑 Grab a glass jar and set some water out to soak up all that new moon energy. Use this in a space cleansing ritual before you begin your festivities for Samhain.

🌑 Find a tea light and carve a small sigil into it for banishing, or blocking unwanted influences or energies. Burn it while meditating on what you would rather invite into your life in its place.

🌑 Prune your plants. Help them to shed the dead and decaying while focusing on what you can also let go of.

🌑 Take a long, cleansing bath. The best place to start with when ridding your life of negativity is to give yourself a bit of self-care and reset your mental and emotional state.

I've gotten back into playing acnl recently and been noticing so much witchy stuff you can do!! A lot of it is up to your own interpretation & you have to make your own correspondences but I wanted to post about it so here ya go

-divination based on which gem you get from the gem rock each day -could also do this with fossils or gyroids but gems already have correspondence resources so they're easier -seashell divination!! -Katrina is literally a fortune teller built into the game, USE HER -you could especially use the lucky clothing piece of the day in a luck spell if you have a similar thing irl!! -using villagers as tarot of some sort, coming up with correspondences for each and depending on if they're moving out, in, or staying, use that for divination(ie if a lazy villager is moving out it could mean nows your chance to get shit done) -for the correspondences you could base it on their looks(color, clothing style), language(catchphrase, quote), species, personality(lazy, cranky, etc) & more, it should be easy to discover your own correspondences! (: -you could also time travel to do this faster/get readings as many times as you want per day -altars for deities in rooms!! You could even have specific characters for specific deities -eating fruit/anything else edible like cake in honor of deities or as an offering of sorts -ik I have a lot of divination on this post as is but divining with flowers!! based on the colors of them and/or what kind of flower it is!! you can even do this based on placement of the flowers(ie if it's near a river it can be linked to water correspondences, or specifically river correspondences) -I SWEAR THIS IS THE LAST DIVINATION ONE divining with letters received from villagers,, gifts are bonus points -like sending them a letter with a question(gift included or not) and using the letter they send back as an answer to the question, the paper they used can also be relevant(lotus, firework, etc), and any gifts they give you -doing spells IN GAME!! like you can set up everything!! you have access to crystals, flowers, seashells(sea witchcraft anyone?), fruits(kitchen witchcraft!!), it's a cool way to do low budget witchcraft!! -you can also use fish and bugs in spells!! and literally anything really there's a ton of furniture and clothes and oh boy think of the possibilities?? amazing -candles are in the game too but you don't have a wide selection -if you don't have all the materials for a spell irl finish it in game!! -using lucky items as a boost in spells!! -the emotion things you can get(idr what they're called or w/e) for intent in spellwork -you could do things like curses by burying an object representing a person then burying pitfalls all around them -or a blessing but with crystals itself of pitfalls or something -you get the idea -SIGILS USING RELEVANT ITEMS. money sigil? place money bags(or anything else in the game you can get corresponding to money) in the shape of the sigil. love sigil? there's so many rose options and each color can mean different things, go for it -sigil fireworks -need to bury something in a spell but for example it's not biodegradable, or you can't bury something for some reason? just do it in game!! you could put it behind a house or something if you don't wanna ruin the aesthetic of your town -disposing of spellwork items by selling them to Reese -or by mailing them away -public works projects have so much potential i don't know where to start, I might come up with some specific ideas later but for now just think about it yourself, it ain't hard to figure out(fire pits, fountains, wind turbines, flower arches, there's stuff for all the elements and more) -yknow that thing where you can "report" villagers for being problematic? use that in curses, problematic language for a silence curse for example -transformation spell? go to shampoodles and get a makeover -turnips for anything money related as they are a popular source of money in the game -using npcs themselves in spells. need something to represent crafting? Cyrus. fashion? any of the able sisters or Gracie. anything youth or children related? Timmy & Tommy. so much more but I'll stop here. -you can customize so much furniture to have your own patterns, use this!! sigils, color correspondences, there's so many possibilities!! -sleep/dream spell? Dream suite. You could even perform spells while in the dream town and have it be kind of like the astral! -K.K. songs for any music magic, the names themselves can lead to correspondences -with the added option of the amiibo it makes it possible to make acnl magic more physical and present in this world. you could use the amiibo like a wand of sorts! -island tours as a base for spells -doing different initiatives in honor of deities(plant a tree for Demeter for example) -emoji spells but instead using the extra symbols you have access to in game(heart, star, etc) -multiple ways to implement this, for example have it be a villagers greeting/catchphrase and every time they say it in activates, you could send a letter to future you with it, put it on the bulletin board, etc -making a sigil pattern then displaying it at able sisters and for every villagers that starts wearing it, more power for the sigil

The witches’ new year is almost upon us~

Once again I’ve created a list of subtle witch tips for folks who are looking to celebrate the holiday in a more low-key manner. 

🎃 Jack-o’-Lantern Spells - There are a whole bunch of them all over witchblr these days, but here are a couple you can do with herbs found around your house: add rosemary to your candle to protect your home, add allspice to attract money and good luck in the new year, use cilantro for a peaceful home, and mint can be used to promote positive energy. Mix and match to create custom blends / spells - but be sure not to burn anything toxic - especially if you’ll be keeping your jack-o’-lanterns inside. Alternatively you can carve sigils into the candles instead of (or in addition to) using herbs to the same end.

🎃 Cook a deceased family member / friend’s recipe or favorite meal. If you’re unable to do a full dumb supper, this can be a great way to connect with those who have passed on. Light your hearth candle, get cooking, and who knows - you might even have a few unseen visitors stopping by to see what’s cooking.

🎃 Put a little extra TLC into the mementos / photos of the deceased around your home. Maybe this means dusting grandma’s wedding photo, or bringing your great aunt’s embroidered throw pillows out for a night on the couch. Either way you can subtly surround yourself with these items without having to formally set up an ancestor altar or give explicit offerings. 

🎃 Make a playlist of songs that remind you of those you’ve lost. Take time to dance and remember all the wonderful moments you got to share. Pay attention and you just might notice that you have a captive audience beyond the veil. To everyone else it’ll look like you’re just jamming out to some of your favorite tunes, but you’ll know that on this special day it’s something more.

🎃 Take time out of your busy schedule to have a quiet meditation session. Perhaps you can spend the time trying to connect with your ancestors, or you could use it as a time to reflect on the past year and set intentions for the new year.
