As someone who saw the episode can you maybe provide a quick summary of the important bits for us that didn't? I trust your opinion on both what is important and whatever dumb choices the writers made...
okay, full disclosure: maria fed me soundbites from twitter and i saw spoilers, i didn’t get to watch it yet, it’s still playing live for me in my time zone and i didn’t hide the remotes fast enough for myself in this house.
in the end, from what i saw, maria and i are mad that the writers made us want to get invested in the time jump. i thought the sad parts (that i saw) were handled fairly well.
i mean, it’s still riverdale so everything is sort of “it doesn’t work like that” but still, the emotional stuff seemed mature. could they do better? yes. of course. could they have done worse? YES. that they didn’t is really a testament to why we all continue to watch. dammit.
the bughead stuff (the confession, the stuff after) actually made me cry and i am full grown cactus. so. there’s that.

Yes, she does!! And again, thank you so much for the recommendations! I'd never have found her books on my own. Her heroines are so refreshing, not only because they are on the outskirts of society, but each of them is unique, shaped by different experiences. And her regency world is so much more than just ballrooms, it encompasses all of London. I also love the bits of society criticism she puts in her books, to me it's the cherry on top.
I'm not sure if you are pro reading romance novels or not, but I just started doing so and "Dare to Love a Duke" by Eva Leigh was a fun one where the main character is a sex worker with a happy ending, and her dude is a jerk for a minute but comes around. I hope we get to see Siena get a happy ending on Bridgerton but it's nice to see a similar scenario in a book!

I just googled it and it's part of a series called The London Underground, in which "the heroines are not as respectable as the debutantes, governesses and worthy widows that litter the pages of historical romance"!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS WHAT WE WANT. Romance novels are a hit or miss with me, but I am definitely checking these out, starting with Dare to Love a Duke, of course. It's so good to see someone similar to Siena getting a true happy ending within the genre. And it seems like the perfect comfort book for after Bridgerton. <33

It tragically does not, even though the crate in 2x08 suggests that Miskatonic University exists in the Riverdale universe. There are some Lovecraftian fics, but not this one. But if you want to write it, please, please do, and I would love to beta it (although I get if you’re not up for that). Seriously, write it, it’d be great.
