#stroke mention

I am reposting this in hopes that it may get more traction as I still have commission slots open. My family is facing severe financial distress still and some recent events have made it very prevalent. We kicked out an abusive family member that lived with us and it hit us hard money wise. I don’t talk about her much anymore, I’m trying to forget her, but it’s something that is still an issue.

I was kicked off my dad’s disability and until we are able to get me back on, or if I am able to get it on my own, we are lacking enough money to live.

My dad's health hasn't improved a lot. We're still fighting with doctors to get her on the right medication and at the moment, I am the only one working. My job is extremely harmful to my mental health, and I am looking for alternate places to work, but I have not been interviewed for anything yet.

TW: CANCER/TUMOURS.  My Nana has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour, in addition to her cancer diagnosis, that is pressing on the right side of her brain. The additional costs, gas/parking/etc, is going to add to our already hurting budget. I am hoping to be getting on my own disability but that can takes months for them to decide and staying under my dads means I am limited to how much I can work.

I usually put what we owe for each but at this point we owe just about everybody. We still owe the mechanic around $600, our phone is monthly and I am behind on that about $200, I have cancelled as much as I am able too. I would love to get my kitten to the vet and for his shots but right now I can’t. It kills me inside because this cat is one of the few things that makes me happy.

Since the stroke, drawing has been very hard to relearn to do, and generally the best I can manage is tracing, and even THAT is hard. This took hours, but I am very proud. Used a reference for the pose and an official reference sheet for colors/to get some idea how to do the anatomy style right + lighting but beyond that? Wholly drawn by moi. Of course it had to be some Dragon Ball Z/Super fanart.

17, skipping stones, and thinking about the future.

And then a crash from the kitchen, not 15 feet away.

Mama on the floor, glass everywhere.

It was a stroke, and the family had never really recovered from his mother’s...loss wasn’t the right word. She was still alive. Just...not really herself anymore.

Tag shakes himself back to the present with the first plunk of Sunny’s tossed rock. Digging deep in his memory for his old training, he shifts into an optimal position for running and takes the first step.

A plank bobs under his weight, and his knee almost locks, nearly sending him straight into the water. But it holds and so does he, and before he can register the alarm of almost falling, he’s already striding to the next piece of wood. And the next, and the next...

He’s never had to run on water before, but he’s always been adaptable.

Terror really sets in when Tag is about two-thirds across. The river’s surface begins to ripple, then peak with small waves. Keeping his balance becomes harder and harder as his heart thuds in his chest. The sound of the monstrous demon breeching the water near him makes him trip over his own feet and for one moment the world slows down.

He can hear the glass bowl in mama’s kitchen, shattering.

He can hear his friends screaming.

At the last second he manages to catch the next plank. Before he has time to process the cold of the river on his legs, he’s up again, bolting for the shore. As soon as his foot touches sand, Tag collapses, wheezing. Then he turns on his side, facing the other players, and raises a shaking fist in the air in triumph.
