On the one hand, StopAntisemitism putting Ms. Rachel as a nominee for “ Antisemite of the Year” is pretty ridiculous and presumably they just did it to garner attention. On the other hand, everyone who I’ve seen calling this out has 1) portrayed Ms Rachel’s profession of a children’s entertainer as making the charge that she’s an antisemite ridiculous—I’m sorry to say it, but both Hamas and Nazi Germany produced antisemitic materials specifically for children, so the mere fact that Ms Rachel’s audience is children is in fact not exculpatory and 2) they’ve portrayed that why Ms Rachel is getting this attention as being “she’s focused on saving Gazan children’s lives” and not paid any attention to the more specific charges against her, such as that she platformed a Hamas supporter and apologist for the 10/7 attack, or indeed that her depiction of the Gaza war as being entirely about the IDF killing children was problematic to say the least.
On a related note, as a Jew I’ve grown sick and fucking tired of people (almost entirely gentiles, btw) reacting to an accusation of antisemitism that they don’t think is warranted with “this distracts from The Real Antisemitism” because let’s be clear, these people don’t lift a finger even when The Real Antisemitism comes.
