Gastric restrictive surgery is commonly known as stomach stapling, and it is a weight-loss procedure performed by surgeons in a hospital. This type of bariatric procedure is used to limit the amount of food that an individual can consume to help with their weight loss.
Weight Loss Surgery - Stomach Stapling, Lap Band And Gastric Bypass
How do you know about weight loss surgery ? In fact , we strongly recommend that you make exercise and healthy eating habits long term rather than focusing on the "shortcut " first recommended. In addition, surgery for weight loss can be very expensive too. But if you have the budget and needs, you can go for the following options. Stomach stapling This surgery makes your stomach smaller . This is because when you eat a little bit, your stomach feels fuller . Therefore, you can avoid overeating. In this case , if you eat too much with a small stomach , you can get sick . Lap- Band The lap band surgery are less drastic . A small adjustable band is placed around the upper stomach . This creates a small pouch that limits the amount of food you can eat at the same time. Therefore, it is substantially the same as the operation described above , stomach stapling . But the problem of making the stomach smaller is that patients tend to cheat more often because the stomach is not really close in terms of size . This brings us to another option of surgery , the gastric bypass . Gastric bypass In this surgery, the doctor takes your stomach and creates a small pouch to limit the amount of food that can be ingested . Then he or she joins the small intestine directly to the small pocket . But the risks are too . For example , 10-20 percent of patients who undergo this surgery must have completed operations due to complications . The statistics also show that over a third of patients who underwent gastric bypass surgery develop gallstones !

ENDOSCOPY, BLOOD WORKUP AND EKG...
First of all I lost approx. 8lbs over the past 4-5 weeks and over 6 inches. Yippee for me and ten pounds from my highest weight.
I went to my appointment with the dietitian, bariatric surgeon, and to have my endoscopy done. An endoscopy is where they send a scope down your throat to look inside your stomach. We waited for an hour to see the dietitian (so I have learned there is no point in showing up early for your appointments at the University).
Starting March 26th I will begin to eat food at applesauce consistency. One day I'll eat 1,200 calories the next 800 calories and back and forth until I see the doctor again on the 4th of April. The dietitian said this was to shrink the liver. I am guessing this is so they have more room to move around in the stomach during surgery.
My endoscopy went fine, except they scheduled me with a doctor that doesn't do endoscopies so they had to scramble to find a doctor that would be willing to do mine. Thank goodness they found a doctor, since I had fasted and had a driver to take me home, my lovely husband Jeff. So, all they saw was where the staple line from the prior stomach staping I had over 12 years ago had come apart. (Right now my food enters my smaller stomach and can then go through the broken staple line into the portion of the stomach that was stapled off). I am hoping that is little scarring from the prior surgery so that they can do the gastric bypass instead of the sleeve.
So now I just have to wait to see how my labs and EKG came back. They will do my chest exray on April 4th when I go back to see the dietitian and surgeon for my pre-opt. I should hear back from the insurance company for approval in the next week or so as well! Only 19 more days if all goes well!!!
I hope to post some before pictures soon...
