Love Island AU: The SkarsgÄrd Effect
What happens when a 6â4â Swedish bombshell walks into the villa? Chaos. Pure chaos.
BWWM | Love Island AU | Bill SkarsgÄrd x OC | Rated R
The date had stretched into the evening, producers clearly milking every second of tension for the cameras. By the time Aaliyah and Bill walked back through the villa gates, the sky was dark and stars were scattered overhead like diamonds.
Billâs hand had found the small of her back againâseemed to be his favorite place to touch herâand Aaliyah was hyperaware of every point of contact.
The warmth of his palm. The occasional brush of his fingers against her hip when they walked.
âYou good?â he murmured, leaning down so his lips were close to her ear.
Aaliyah shivered despite the warm night air. âYeah, IâmâIâm good.â
âStill nervous?â
âNo.â A lie. She was a wreck.
His low laugh told her he knew it.
The villa came into view, lit up and buzzing with activity. Through the glass doors she could see bodies moving aroundâthe islanders were clearly waiting for them.
âReady to face the firing squad?â Billâs thumb stroked her lower back.
âOh god.â Aaliyah stopped walking, pressing a hand to her stomach. âTheyâre gonna be so messy about this.â
âLet them.â Bill stopped too, turning to face her fully. His hands came up to cup her face, tilting it up toward his. The gesture was so casual, so intimate, like heâd been touching her like this for years instead of hours. âHey. Look at me.â
She did. Couldnât not.
âI donât give a fuck what anyone in there thinks,â he said bluntly, his Swedish accent wrapping around the curse word in a way that shouldnât have been attractive but absolutely was. âI picked you. I wanted you. Thatâs it.â
âBut Marcusââ
âIs gonna have to deal with it.â His expression was hard.
Unyielding.
âIâm not here to play games, Aaliyah. Iâm not here to waste time. I see something I want, I go for it.â
His thumb brushed across her cheekbone.
âAnd I want you.â
Her heart was going to explode. Actually explode.
âYou canât justâsay stuff like thatââ
âWhy not? Itâs true.â He leaned down, his forehead almost touching hers. âTell me you didnât feel anything on that date. Tell me Iâm reading this wrong and Iâll back off.â
Aaliyah opened her mouth. Closed it.
She couldnât.
Billâs smile was slow and devastating. âYeah. Thatâs what I thought.â He pressed a kiss to her foreheadâcasual, possessiveâand pulled back. âCome on. Letâs go give them something to talk about.â
The moment they walked through the doors, all conversation stopped.
Every head turned. Jadeâs mouth dropped open. Connor started grinning like Christmas had come early. Marcusâs jaw tightened, his eyes tracking the way Billâs hand was still on Aaliyahâs back.
âWELL, WELL, WELL,â Jade sang out, breaking the silence. âLook whoâs back! Yâall have fun?â
Aaliyah felt her face heat. âIt wasâum. It was nice.â
âNice?â Sienna was perched on the kitchen counter, legs swinging. âGirl, you were gone for FOUR HOURS. It better have been more than nice!â
âLeave her alone,â Marcus said tightly, standing up from the couch. He crossed the space toward them, and Aaliyah felt Billâs hand flex possessively against her back. âCan I talk to you for a second?â
âOh boy,â Connor muttered under his breath.
Aaliyah glanced up at Bill, who was watching Marcus with an unreadable expression. His hand dropped from her back.
âGo ahead,â Bill said smoothly. âIâll be right here.â
That last part was clearly directed at Marcus.
Aaliyah let Marcus lead her toward the far corner of the outdoor area, away from the prying eyes and ears. The second they were semi-alone, he rounded on her.
âWhat the hell was that?â
âWhat was what?â
âAaliyah, donât play with me right now.â Marcusâs voice was low, frustrated. âYou walk back in here with that guyâs hands all over youââ
âThey werenât all over meââ
âHe was touching your back! Your waist! He kissed your forehead!â Marcus ran a hand over his face. âWeâre coupled up. Or did you forget?â
Guilt twisted in her stomach. âI didnât forget, Marcus. I justââ
âJust what? Just decided to forget about me the second someone taller walked in?â
âThatâs not fairââ
âIsnât it?â He stepped closer, lowering his voice even more. âBe real with me. Are you into him?â
Aaliyahâs mouth went dry. The honest answer was terrifying. The lie wouldnât come.
âIâŠâ She swallowed hard. âI donât know. We just met.â
âThatâs not a no.â
âWeâve only been coupled up for five days, Marcus. Itâs not like weâre together togetherââ
âBut I thought we were building something.â His frustration was giving way to something else. Hurt. âI thought you were feeling me.â
âI was! I am! Youâre sweet and funny andââ
âBut I donât make you stutter.â Marcusâs smile was bitter. âI donât make you nervous. I saw the way you were looking at him, Aaliyah. You never looked at me like that.â
She didnât know what to say. Because he was right.
Marcus sighed, stepping back. âLook. Iâm not gonna stand in your way if youâre feeling someone else. But you need to be honest. With yourself and with me.â He paused. âThereâs a recoupling tomorrow night. The boys pick. So you need to figure out what you want before then.â
Aaliyahâs stomach dropped. âTomorrow?â
âAriana told us while you were gone.â Marcusâs expression was unreadable now. âSo yeah. Tomorrow. Better make up your mind.â
He turned and walked away before she could respond, heading back inside the villa.
Aaliyah stood there, frozen, her mind racing. A recoupling. Already. And the boys were choosing, which meantâ
âHey.â
She jumped. Bill had materialized beside her, silent as a cat. How did someone that tall move that quietly?
âYou okay?â His hand found hers, fingers lacing through automatically.
âThereâs a recoupling tomorrow,â she blurted out. âThe boys pick.â
Billâs expression didnât change. âI know.â
âYou know?â
âAriana told me when I came in.â He tugged her closer, his free hand coming up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. âWhy do you look so worried?â
âBecauseââ Aaliyah gestured helplessly. âBecause I donâtâIâm notââ
âYouâre not what?â His thumb traced her jawline, the touch feather-light and completely devastating. âNot sure what you want?â
âI donât know!â It came out more desperate than she intended. âBill, we just met. Iâve been coupled up with Marcus for almost a weekââ
âAnd you feel nothing for him,â Bill interrupted, his voice matter-of-fact. Harsh. âBe honest.â
âThatâs notââ
âAaliyah.â He caught her chin, forcing her to meet his eyes. âDo you want him? Yes or no.â
âItâs not that simpleââ
âIt is.â His grip tightened slightly. Not painful, just firm. Commanding. âYouâre making it complicated because you feel guilty. But guilt isnât a reason to stay with someone.â He leaned down, his mouth close to her ear. âTell me the truth. When I pick you tomorrow nightâand I am going to pick youâare you gonna be happy about it?â
Her breath hitched. âBillââ
âAre you?â His lips brushed the shell of her ear, and Aaliyah felt the touch all the way down to her toes. âBecause I need to know, beautiful. I need to know if Iâm wasting my time.â
âYouâre not,â she whispered before she could stop herself.
Bill pulled back just enough to look at her, and his smile was pure satisfaction. âNo?â
âNo.â Her voice was stronger now, even though her heart was hammering. âYouâre not wasting your time.â
âGood.â He kissed her temple, then her cheek, working his way down with deliberate slowness. âBecause I donât share, Aaliyah. When I pick you tomorrow, youâre mine. Understand?â
She should be offended by the possessiveness. Should tell him he couldnât just claim her like that.
Instead, she nodded.
Billâs smile turned wicked. âUse your words.â
âIâI understand.â
âGood girl.â The praise went straight through her, molten heat pooling low in her stomach. His hand slid from her jaw down to her neck, thumb resting against her pulse point. âYour heartâs racing again.â
âYou keepâyou keep doing thatââ
âDoing what?â He was playing dumb, the bastard. His thumb pressed down slightly, feeling the frantic beat. âThis?â
âY-yesââ
âYou want me to stop?â His mouth was at her ear again, lips barely brushing the sensitive skin. âSay the word and Iâll stop, Aaliyah. Iâll walk away right now.â
She should tell him to stop. Should tell him this was too much, too fast, too intense.
âDonât stop,â she breathed.
Billâs answering groan was low and dangerous. âFuck, youâre gonna be the death of me.â His forehead pressed against hers, his breathing slightly uneven. âDo you have any idea what you do to me?â
âN-noââ
âLiar.â His hand tightened on her neck, just enough to make her gasp. âYou know exactly what youâre doing. Walking around in that little dress, looking at me with those pretty eyes, biting your lipââ
âI wasnâtââ
âYou were.â He pulled back to look at her, his eyes dark. âYouâve been biting your lip all night. Driving me fucking crazy.â
Aaliyah realized she was doing it right now. Immediately stopped.
Billâs laugh was rough. âToo late, beautiful. Damage is done.â He stepped back, putting space between them, and Aaliyah almost whined at the loss of contact. âCome on. Letâs get you inside before I do something weâll both regret.â
âLike what?â The question slipped out before she could think better of it.
Billâs eyes flashed. He leaned down one more time, his lips brushing her ear. âLike kissing you until you forget your own name,â he murmured. âAnd we both know once I start, Iâm not gonna want to stop.â
Aaliyahâs knees went weak.
Bill steadied her with a hand on her waist, that insufferable smirk back on his face. âCome on. Letâs go face the chaos.â
The chaos, as it turned out, was an understatement.
The moment they walked back inside, they were swarmed.
âOKAY, SPILL,â Jade demanded, physically dragging Aaliyah away from Bill and toward the girlâs section of the bedroom. âWhat HAPPENED? And donât you dare say ânothingâ because that man has been eye-fucking you since he walked through the door!â
âJADE!â
âAm I wrong?â Jade gestured wildly. âSienna, back me up!â
Sienna, whoâd followed them, nodded emphatically. âGirl, that man wants to eat you alive. In the best way possible.â
Aaliyah buried her face in her hands. âOh my god, yâall are doing the mostââ
âWe are doing the LEAST,â Jade corrected. âYouâre over here stuttering and blushing like a virginââ
âI am NOTââ
ââand heâs over there looking at you like youâre his last meal. So PLEASE, tell us what happened on that date!â
Aaliyah sat down on her bed, pulling her knees to her chest. âHeâs just⊠heâs really intense, okay? Like, really intense.â
âIntense how?â Sienna sat down next to her, genuinely curious.
âLikeâŠâ Aaliyah struggled to find the words. âHe doesnât hold back. At all. He just says whatever heâs thinking, and itâs all really direct and kind of harsh but alsoââ She broke off, feeling her face heat.
âAlsoâŠ?â Jade prompted.
âAlso really hot,â Aaliyah admitted quietly.
Both girls erupted.
âI KNEW IT!â
âOH MY GOD!â
âKEEP IT DOWN!â Aaliyah hissed, glancing toward the door. âWhat if he hears you?â
âBabe, that man KNOWS heâs got you wrapped around his finger,â Jade said, flopping back on the bed. âThe question isâwhat are you gonna do about Marcus?â
Aaliyahâs stomach twisted. âI donât know. Bill said heâs gonna pick me at the recoupling tomorrow.â
âOf course he is,â Sienna said matter-of-factly. âThat man claimed you the second he walked in. Marcus never stood a chance.â
âThatâs so meanââ
âItâs TRUE.â Jade sat up, fixing Aaliyah with a serious look. âLook, Marcus is a nice guy. But be realâdid you ever feel butterflies with him? Did he ever make you nervous? Make your heart race?â
âNo,â Aaliyah admitted.
âBut Bill does.â
âYeah.â She sighed, running her hands through her hair. âGod, yes. He makes me a mess. I can barely talk around him.â
âThen what are you confused about?â Sienna asked gently. âGirl, life is short. This is Love Island. Youâre supposed to follow your feelings. And your feelings are clearly telling you to jump that tall Swedish manâs bones.â
âSIENNA!â
âWhat? Iâm just saying what weâre all thinking!â
Aaliyah groaned, falling back on the bed. âThis is so messy.â
âWelcome to the villa, baby,â Jade said cheerfully. âIt only gets messier from here.â
Meanwhile, on the boysâ side, Bill was getting the third degree.
âSo,â Connor started, leaning against the bathroom counter while Bill brushed his teeth. âYouâre really going for Aaliyah at the recoupling?â
Bill spit, rinsed, and met Connorâs eyes in the mirror. âYeah.â
âEven though sheâs coupled up with Marcus?â
âEspecially because sheâs coupled up with Marcus.â Billâs smile was sharp. âShe doesnât want him. She wants me.â
âYou sound real confident about that, mate.â
âBecause I am.â Bill turned, crossing his arms over his chest. âI saw the way she looked at me. The way she reacted when I touched her. Thatâs not something you can fake.â
Marcus, whoâd been silent up until now, spoke up from where he was sitting on his bed. âSo what, you just decided sheâs yours?â
Billâs gaze slid to him, cool and assessing. âNo. She decided. I just made it easier for her to admit it.â
âThatâs fucked up, man.â
âIs it?â Bill tilted his head. âYouâve been coupled up with her for almost a week. Tell meâhave you kissed her?â
Marcusâs jaw tightened.
âHave you even held her hand? Made a real move?â Bill continued, his voice cutting. âOr have you just been playing it safe, hoping sheâll eventually come around?â
âI was giving her spaceââ
âYou were wasting time,â Bill interrupted. âAnd now youâre mad because someone else didnât.â
Connor whistled low. âDamn, mate. Thatâs harsh.â
âItâs honest.â Bill grabbed his water bottle, took a long drink. âLook, Marcus. Iâm not here to make friends. Iâm here to find someone. And I found her. So tomorrow night, Iâm picking Aaliyah. You can be mad about it if you want. Doesnât change anything.â
Marcus stood up, his expression tight. âYou know what? Fine. Pick her. But donât come crying to me when she realizes youâre moving too fast and gets scared off.â
âIâll take my chances.â Billâs smile didnât reach his eyes.
Marcus shook his head and walked out, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife.
Connor let out a breath. âWell, thatâs gonna make the recoupling awkward as hell.â
âDonât care.â Bill finished his water, set the bottle down. âHe had his shot. Now itâs my turn.â
The next day passed in a blur of nervous energy.
The recoupling was scheduled for sunset, which meant the islanders spent the entire day vacillating between forced casual conversation and tense silence.
The girls huddled in groups, speculating about who would pick whom. The boys were quieter, more closed off.
Aaliyah had barely slept. Every time sheâd closed her eyes, sheâd seen Billâs faceâthe intensity in his gaze, the way his hands had felt on her skin, the promise in his voice when he said youâre mine.
Sheâd gotten up early, gone for a swim to clear her head. It hadnât helped.
Now, as the sun started to dip toward the horizon and Arianaâs voice crackled over the speakers calling them to the fire pit, Aaliyahâs stomach was in knots.
âYou good?â Jade asked as they filed outside.
âNo,â Aaliyah said honestly. âI feel like Iâm gonna throw up.â
âDonât. Youâll ruin your makeup.â Jade squeezed her hand. âItâs gonna be fine. Billâs picking you. You know he is.â
âBut what ifââ
âNo what-ifs. That man is LOCKED IN. Trust me.â
They took their positionsâthe girls in a line facing the fire pit, the boys standing off to the side with Ariana. Aaliyah found herself between Jade and Sienna again, her heart hammering so hard she could feel it in her throat.
Ariana stepped forward, resplendent in a glittering gold dress, her smile knowing. âIslanders. Welcome to your first recoupling.â
She paused for dramatic effect. âThe boys will choose who they want to couple up with. Girls, youâll step forward when your name is called.
The girl not chosen⊠will be dumped from the island.â
A collective gasp.
Aaliyah felt the blood drain from her face. Someone was going home. Tonight.
âLetâs begin,â Ariana said cheerfully.
âConnor, youâre up first.â
Connor stepped forward, hands in his pockets, looking relaxed despite the circumstances. âRight. So, this is pretty easy for me. I wanna couple up with this girl because sheâs gorgeous, she makes me laugh, and she can keep up with me drink for drink.â He grinned.
âThe girl I wanna couple up with is⊠Jade.â
Jade whooped, bouncing forward to link her arm through Connorâs. They moved to stand by the fire pit.
âLuca,â Ariana called next.
A tall Italian guy with dark curly hair stepped forward. âThe girl I want to couple up with is beautiful, funny, and has legs for days. I wanna couple up with⊠Sienna.â
Sienna sashayed forward, all confidence, and took Lucaâs arm.
Three girls left. Including Aaliyah.
âMarcus,â Ariana said, and Aaliyahâs heart stopped.
Marcus stepped forward, his expression carefully neutral. He looked at Aaliyah for a long moment, and she saw something flash in his eyes. Resignation, maybe. Or acceptance.
âThe girl I want to couple up with,â he started, his voice steady, âis smart, funny, and has a smile that lights up a room.â He paused. âI wanna couple up with⊠Tasha.â
Aaliyahâs knees nearly buckled with relief. Tashaâa pretty blonde from Manchesterâsquealed and hurried forward.
Which left Aaliyah and one other girl, Naomi, a tall dark-skinned beauty from London.
And one more boy to choose.
âBill,â Ariana called, her smile absolutely wicked.
Bill stepped forward, and Aaliyahâs entire body went taut. He was wearing black pants and a white button-down again, sleeves rolled up, the top few buttons undone. His hair was slightly messy, like heâd been running his hands through it.
His eyes found hers immediately.
âSo,â Bill started, his accent curling around the words. âIâm gonna make this real simple.â He took a step forward, his gaze never leaving Aaliyahâs face. âFrom the moment I walked into this villa, I knew exactly who I wanted. There was no question. No doubt.â
Aaliyah couldnât breathe.
âThis girl is gorgeous. Like, stupid gorgeous. But thatâs not why Iâm picking her.â Another step closer. âIâm picking her because when I look at her, I see everything Iâve been looking for. Sheâs funny, sheâs real, she doesnât play games. And when I touch herââ His smile turned devastating. ââshe reacts in a way that tells me she feels this too.â
Oh god. He was really doing this. In front of everyone.
âThe girl I want to couple up with is Aaliyah.â
The fire pit erupted into cheers and whistles. Aaliyah felt frozen in place, her heart pounding so hard she thought it might burst out of her chest.
Bill closed the distance between them, his hand extended. âCome here,â he said softly, just for her.
Somehow, her legs worked. She walked forward, placed her hand in his, and let him pull her close. His arm went around her waist immediately, possessive and secure.
âYou good?â he murmured into her hair.
âIâyeah. Iâm good.â
âNo more Marcus.â It wasnât a question.
âNo more Marcus,â she confirmed, and felt him smile against her temple.
âGood.â He kissed her forehead, then guided her to stand with the other couples.
Ariana finished the ceremonyâNaomi was sent home, tears and hugs all aroundâand then they were free to disperse.
But Bill didnât let go of Aaliyahâs waist.
âCome with me,â he said, already steering her away from the group.
âWhereââ
âSomewhere private.â His hand slid lower, splaying across her hip. âWe need to talk.â
Talk. Right. Thatâs definitely what the look in his eyes was promising.
Aaliyah was in so much trouble.
