Working on something a bit different than I usually do. This is going to be the altar cloth for our the upcoming Super Wolf Blood Moon rituals.
The cloth is 243 stitches long, which I selected because it was 27 repeated 9 times. It turns out that not only is 243 divisible by 27, 9, and 3, but also 243 adds to 9, 81 adds to 9, and 27 adds to 9! I didn’t realize this when deciding on the length, but it worked out perfectly.
The colors were pretty serendipitous as well. I started by figuring out the colors and associations I wanted. Based on that, I went looking through the yarn I had recently been gifted. I was able to find the perfect color combinations, which I really wouldn’t use otherwise, since I tend to need solid color skeins. So, the blues are to promote protection/loyalty/trust, the yellow for creativity, the browns for grounding, and the white for purification/cleansing and the connection to the moon. When the cloth is done, the blue/yellow/white block will border the brown block symmetrically on both sides.
I’m really happy with how it’s working out, it’s really refreshing after the frustrating starts and stops I’ve had on my other project over the past few days.
