#stinkweed

After a nightmare experience with another deliriant I swore never to touch this. I only did so because some people are still reckless enough to use it, and I thus needed to include it in the book. I used a minimal dose, one seed, but even with this I felt a sense of preliminary detachment which hinted at the loss of control which would come at a higher intake. There is nothing here in terms of fun or psychedelia, and everything here with respect to serious toxic harm, potential psychosis and death. My advice is plain enough: this isn't recreational; it's basically a poison, so please stay away from it.

Another SW endemic.

It usually grows in lateritic or granitic soils, or around limestone, but in this case it was growing in deep white sand.

There are about 15 species in the genus, all endemic to Australia, and most have an unpleasant odour.

AKA skunkbush, and skunkweed.

A spreading annual plant from British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California, growing at elevations of less than 800 metres on open, wet, gravelly flats and slopes. Now naturalised in Australia, Aotearoa and elsewhere. The flowers can also be pink.
