Originally, I had an NA sponsor and was working the steps the NA way. A little bit into step two, I switched sponsors. I still have an NA sponsor, but we are doing the steps from the big book, and will do the NA steps when we are done. I'm so grateful to be continuing my journey, and trying a new way.

Just started on it and I'm scared. It says in the Big Book and from countless others experiences that an under done 4th step will return you to drinking. I'm trying my best to be thorough.

Remember: if you’re comparing yourself to other people in recovery, they’ve probably been through relapse too. If they can do it, there’s no reason why you can’t.

Healing is a process. In order to heal, we MUST stop actively harming ourselves. When we continue to poison our bodies and minds with toxic thoughts and behaviors, we shouldn't expect to feel better. How can we? It's like picking a fresh scab and wondering why our wound is bleeding again. We know if we want a wound to heal, we need to clean it, apply medication and give it time to heal. It is the same with our heart, mind and soul. If we want to heal we need to clear the wreckage, do the work, apply the lessons and help others do the same. Take That First Step Until I took that first step, I was stuck in a viscous cycle of disappointment and self-destruction. I thought about changing my life, fantasized what it would look like, but remained exactly where I was. When the pain finally became great enough, I made the effort required to change.
