Enzo strolls into the " obsessed w Stefan" battle with a steel chair because his beef isn't even ABOUT Stefan.
Katherine and Klaus at least LIKED parts of Stefan. Like, could point out character traits
But enzo hates Stefan for what he ISN'T. Specifically, he isn't the brother Enzo built in his head. He isn't the person he defended to Damon
The way he's following him and killing ppl just to mess w him, it's one of the most unfair obsessions so far bcs it truly has NOTHING to hold on to. It's very much " this man is doing things i don't agree with so he must be PUNISHED"
But he lacks the backstory to validate that obsession. And we have Katherine, Klaus, Damon and Tessa for comparison
It is also, by his admission, jealousy. Which is again, not about what stefan IS but about what he HAS.
And, in Enzos eyes, he has friends and forgiveness. Which is really funny to have as a beef once you realised Enzo never apologise for anything. Like, Enzo is here lile " you get to be an asshole and ppl like hou but I AM JUDGED for being an asshole" because he somehow missed the fact that " hot enough to forgive war crimes" is solely a Salvatore ability.
( also how he never tries to be betterc bcs he's following Damon's tried and true method of " be a homicidal whiner and get people to pity you" and is surprised it has different results)
Now, if i trusted the show to LIKE stefan ( even a little) and genuinely want Damon to be better, this would be a great opportunity towards Damon's redemption
If damon HIMSELF dealt with Enzo, either kicking him out or ensuring that he won't bother Stefan. Bcs giving up his one friend and person he cares about for his brother would finally bring them closer to equality in terms of sacrifice
