"character deserved better" (but they were never going to get it that's the stuff great tragedies are made of) vs "character deserved better" (but the writers really blew it)

"there's eight billion people, no matter what statistically someone is still worse at that thing than you!!" okay or maybe you are actually the worst at it alive or dead and that's fine. maybe with time and effort you can improve. maybe you can't! that's fine! you cannot be good at everything, and even if the very best you can do at anything is still the worst anyone's ever done it, that's FINE. you are still deserving of safety and care and comfort, because it comes free with being alive. you do not need to measure your worth. full stop, end of sentence, you do not need to quantify or calculate or track your worth. you have it, because you are a living thing, and people can try to argue with that and they're fucking wrong. even if you are the coworker everyone hates you have worth. not everyone will like you and you will not be good at everything, statistically, yes. even if you are bad at everything you are deserving of good. you can be bad at things. you are allowed to be bad at things. you will be bad at things and it's fine.

big fan of when a character metaphorically sweeps something under the rug, but you can feel them flinch every time they walk over it and feel the crumbs beneath their feet
