questions for your character!

How would you describe your character’s mindset? Their personality, their attitude, their mentality and self-philosophy…
Stel is—like many werewolves—angry and repressed. Ever since the First Change, they've repressed most emotions, and now they use irony, sarcasm, and rage to deflect any complicated feelings. This leads to them having impulsive outbursts, which unfortunately works in their favor most of the time.
Beyond that, Stel is insatiably curious, incredibly selfish, and possesses a fragile ego. They have a tendency to ask questions and pursue knowledge to the detriment of things such as social graces and “mission-critical” tasks. They are almost solely concerned with themself and the people they care about, willing to go to great lengths to keep their loved ones safe. However, they would struggle with anything that would require them to wound their ego, such as begging.
What is the best thing about your character? Be it their talent, skill, or a trait.
They are loving, in their own way. They are learning to love themself, their friends, their community, and the world. Love will drive them to do great & terrible things.
What is their worst quality? Do they realize it?
Stel would say their worst quality is their inability to lie. However, their actual worst quality is the aforementioned ego. It has sullied—if not ruined—lots of potentially good outcomes for them. It also keeps them from being vulnerable in a way that provides meaningful connection.
Everyone is created by something whether they like it or not… What was the moment in their lives that pushed them into who they are? Was it bloody? Was it peaceful?
The First Change. One night, under the watchful eye of the crescent moon, a ten year old Stel transformed in their own home. Their bones broke and their skin ripped, and they were made to be a raging monster. They violently murdered their mother in the process. It was bloody and horrifying: due to their eidetic memory, they remember it in crystal clear detail.
People have goals and desires, what are theirs and will they achieve it?
Stel wants to 1) become a better mage and 2) learn how to live life. Now that they don't feel stuck in the headspace they were in for nearly a decade after their mom died, Stel has the capacity to enjoy events and activities they couldn't before. They want to go out, take risks, make mistakes; the whole shebang.
When it comes to people, was there anyone they idolized or someone that was/is important to them? Why are they important?
Davey is Stel's best friend; has been since they were in kindergarten. Without him, Stel wouldn't have made it as far in life as they have. He stuck with them through a lot and continues to do so. He's a goddamn saint, really.
Fear is only human nature, are they scared of anything? Is this fear rooted in any experience or memory in particular?
Being mind controlled, or really their brain being fucked with in any way.
After Lysander De Luca (hi @acealistair) pointed out he could use Cloud Memory on Stel to make them forget he bit them, Stel realized that being around supernatural creatures opens up the chance of their thoughts, feelings, and memories being messed with. To Stel, this would be an invasion beyond all others, and having it happen non-consensually scares the hell out of them.
Break down how they look. Why do they wear what they wear? Any scars, tattoos, or piercings on them?
Stel has many of their mother's features and their dad's hair color. They wear a lot of thrifted and DIY items, allowing them to express themself creatively without producing a lot of waste or being expensive to replace when the clothes inevitably get ruined in a fight. They particularly like tops that show off their arms and stomach, because they like those parts of themself and they tend to run hot. As for bottoms, pants with lots of pockets so they don't have to carry a bag around.
They have tattoos to represent the mage spheres and are slowly getting more to represent their werewolf gifts.
Everyone is perceived in one way or another. How is your character perceived by others?
To their pack and most Vegas's communities, Stel is brash, impulsive, smart, and reliable. They will absolutely cause problems and be stubborn about dumb shit but they will inevitably work towards improving Vegas so long as that's the place they call home.
To the werewolf community in particular, Stel was The Theurge. Once Stel removed forebearance as a concept, thus ceasing being The Theurge, Stel is now an extremely powerful freak.
What is the most painful thing they’ve experienced? Physical, or emotional. Everyone has wounds.
Being shot with a silver bullet in the middle of the extremely important Chamber meeting. The pain was more than physical—though it hurt a lot!—as Stel had to realize that they could very well die during that fight, leaving their pack and their friends to deal with the coming Apocalypse without them there to help. That sense of failure was miserable.
