When asked about the relationship with DeBoer after getting pulled this is what he said and yes I took the time to transcribe this because oh my godddd (some stuff is taken out when he’s repeating himself a bit so fair warning it’s not one to one)
“I think for me….I’m gonna learn from the experience. It’s gonna help me be a better person, be a better goalie. Just…you know my job is to stop the puck, and I feel like I’m one of the best in the world when I’m doing that, so that’s all I’m going to focus on. There’s no- all the extra stuff is just extra stuff… one of you guys (reporters) could be coaching and it wouldn’t matter.”
All this said with the most dead eyed stare and monotone voice. I swear like they probably won’t fire DeBoer because unfortunately no coach on the market right now is better than him, but whatever trust Otter had in him is g o n e
This is wild to me. This whole situation is insane and PDB should have walked this back as soon as people started blowing it up like this. Say anything to defend your guy.
I still think they should fire him. DeBoer is not worth the chemistry of that team especially when Otter is literally their heart
