Ugh, with the cancellation of Starfleet Academy once its already-filmed second season is over, my despair at the future of the Trek franchise grows. Starfleet Academy included some of the best Trek I've ever seen, and it managed it in a shockingly short span of episodes. It wasn't perfect, but no show is, and it hit its stride very quickly compared to most Star Trek. But the more the creators listen to and act on the whinging of pathetic hate-filled dudebros who worship nostalgia, the worse off Trek will be. We don't need more TNG victory laps like Picard season 3, we don't need more Kirk-era self-referential fanwank like SNW and its increasingly conservative bend. The mindless clamouring for a Legacy show doesn't help either.
The Star Trek fandom is content to worship the ashes rather than tend to the flame.
This is the stagnation and death of Star Trek, in my opinion.
