It’s okay, I’ll say something nice about Gale.

I think he performs well under pressure and I’m glad he was there to protect Katniss throughout Mockingjay.

Also I’ve seen some discourse about what if Gale went into the first games with Katniss.

I think Mockingjay is the closest we’ll get to an answer. He’s strategic, apathetic, and in a way playing the game.

In D13 he trains and prepares for battle. He films propos. He studies his enemy and chooses to fight everytime.

Gale steps into the arena when Squad 451 goes to the Capitol which is filled with traps, mutts, and death.

When Gale figures out Katniss’s plan to leave he wants to go with her. He’s protective over Katniss and wants to keep her safe but he knows she won’t change her mind so they least he can do it stick by her side until the end.

1- Enobaraia

Like I said she was captured and tortured alongside the others after the arena blew up and was drugged into being used into a propaganda piece so she is overall very extra tramatized and very disalogent after spending years maintaining the image that the capitol demand of her to maintain and putting up with them changing her teeth without her consent then building her whole persona on a extremely traumatizing Event so to say she's furious would be a understatement, Bec of that after she heals she joins Katniss and Johanna in their training ( and more accurately become like their captain) and managed to work her way into joining squad 451 she also Play a part into saving Finnick because she'd realize the mutts are there earlier and give the squad a headstart and she manages to pull him before he gets overwhelmed @charlunday made a beautiful fanart of Finnick surviving the mutt attack but losing his hands so I imagine that he too lost his left hand here and got some scars so he'd stay behind to heal with Tigris

2- peeta

Peeta is sort of the same but like @majorsoapfan suggested that because the pressure to save him and the others were much bigger and the rescue mission happened much sooner his hijacking is incomplete so instead of attacking Katniss and trying to choke her he's skittish and terffied and can't move from the fear he's generally less aggressive and more extremely paranoid and skittish but his healing process should fairly be the same as Canon but I imagine Katniss is more paintenced with him

3-gloss

(I still don't know how his body type would be affected after two weeks and a half from beating up and starvation) he's mostly looked after by cashmere as the two are very attached to each other all the time after they are reunited and she ensures he and the others are looked after properly but I imagine he helps somewhere with Finnick and Annie 's weeding cake, his healing does take longer

4-madge

Surprise I committed and added Madge and she and merrille survive in this au . Madge is affected by the sudden loss of her father and district and she cuts her hair from stress ( cashmere helps fix it later) and she throws herself into helping support Katniss and her assigned tailoring job but she gets close to cashmere and opens up to her

I threatened to do a team comparison and I have no chill.

Now I put * by the camera crew because they aren’t technically supposed to fight but they do, so I’d count them as part of the team, you know? I thought there were MORE random D13 soldiers but this is it. Same number of members in each.

Squad 451 has youth on their side, and they are all in good condition. But with those four rookies, you don’t know how they will respond. In a purely physical matchup they would probably prevail. But the games also usually have some mental aspect. And you really have to give it to the Victor Squad. I mean the depth of experience and knowledge on that bench outweighs much of the age issue, in my view. The victors have a deep roster.

This moment with Squad 451 is such a great example of what allyship/co-conspiratorship looks like in a diverse movement. Because you see Messala say something silly that reveals the privilege he has compared to his District companions who lived in abject poverty, but he catches himself. And importantly, he doesn't need the District folks to explain his privilege to him. He realizes it, shuts his trap, doesn't get defensive, and hopefully learns something.
