Thoughts About Castor

Just started playing Morimens. I talk more about that in another post. But anyway, Obsidian Wings was one of the banners that were currently available when I joined Morimens.

Don't know much about Castor yet. Just started playing through the story and have yet to meet him. But heard that he's apparently a really good and meta char.

Also heard that he has a younger brother called Pollux whose banner is also currently up. From the little bit I've seen and read about them so far, their characters and personality seem well and interesting enough, I suppose. At least not seeing or hearing anything that makes me dislike them or something.

Even like their appearance well enough too. And I like how they're named after the Gemini twins or Dioscuri.

So it was just a matter of deciding who to pull for first. Since Castor is apparently the more meta char between the two of them, decided to try pulling for him first.

Obsidian Wings Banner Pulls Results

Here are the results of my pulls on the Obsidian Wings Castor banner:

In Morimens, it takes 30 pulls to get a SSR char from limited character banners like Obsidian Wings. Instead of 50/50, it's 33/33/33, meaning you can lose twice before getting the limited rate-up char.

After losing twice (as in getting 2 standard SSR chars), the next SSR you get is guaranteed to be the on-banner char, which, in this case, is Castor.

So in the worst case scenario, you need a total of 90 pulls before getting the rate-up char. The possibility of losing twice sounds awful but "only" needing a total of 90 pulls doesn't seem that bad compared to, for example, Honkai: Star Rail (HSR).

In HSR, it's 50/50, meaning you can lose once before you're guaranteed to get the banner char. But you need a total of 180 pulls before getting the rate-up char in the worst case scenario.

Thought that I was set to lose the 333/33/33 and that it was gonna take me a while longer before getting a SSR in the Obsidian Wings banner, so it was a really pleasant surprise when my 6th multi gave me a SSR.

Wasn't counting so didn't realize this was my 30th pull already. Thankfully, actually won the 33/33/33 so was able to get my first copy of Castor already. Hell, yes! Now I have my first limited SSR in this game.

Sacred Absolution Banner

Sacred Absolution is the name of Pollux's banner. After getting Castor and as soon as I had enough to do another multi, went to pull for Pollux next. I talk more about the results of my Pollux pulls in another post.

But after getting my first copy of Pollux, decided to pull for Castor's Wheel of Destiny (WoD) next. This seems to be similar to the Light Cones in HSR.

Castor's Wheel of Destiny is called Unbearable Freedom, and apparently, it's one of the best WoDs, particularly because it increases the team's hand size.

The Invictus Description

Steadily increases Shield acquisition, and explosively gains Aliemus during the Ultra Round. Grants the team a massive Crit. DMG bonus after releasing "Annihilation".

The Invictus Banner Pulls Results

In WoD banners, there's a 50/50 chance of getting the featured Wheel of Destiny. After 30 pulls, you're guaranteed to get a SSR Wheel of Destiny.

If the first SSR WoD you get from this banner isn't the featured Wheel of Destiny, then the next SSR Wheel you get will be the featured one.

In the worst case scenario, you'll need a total of 60 pulls to guarantee a rate-up WoD.

Lost the 50/50 and got my first copy of the SSR Wheel of Destiny called Blade of the Titan.

It's too bad that I lost, but at least I got this particular WoD. Heard that this is one of the best standard Wheels in the game so happy to get my first copy.

My fourth multi-draw gave me my first copy of Unbearable Freedom. Hell, yes!

Glad it didn't take that long or that much to get Castor's Wheel of Destiny.

Castor and Pollux

Been enjoying playing Morimens with Castor and Pollux in my team even if I haven't been able to fully level them up yet. Looks like it's gonna take quite a while before I can finish fully building them.

In the meanwhile, wanted more copies of the brothers. Also want at least 1 copy of Pollux's Wheel of Destiny.

After thinking about it and considering my options, decided that I'd pull for Pollux's Wheel on his next rerun. Thankfully, that's gonna happen soon because he and his brother and their Wheels are gonna get rerun banners during the game's upcoming anniversary.

Since am still new to Morimens, don't have a lot of chars yet so thought it was better to pull on the char banners. Of course, I'd rather not lose the 33/33/33, but if that does happen, then at least that would give me more chars. Might even get a char or chars that could be good with Castor and Pollux.

So now it was a matter of deciding which banner to pull on next. Should I go for more copies of Castor first, or more copies of Pollux?

From searching around some more, it seemed that Castor was way more meta than Pollux. In fact, there were plenty who were saying that Pollux wasn't necessary at all, that his brother was way better, and it was better to just keep pulling for more copies of Castor to fully max him out instead of bothering to pull for Pollux.

I like them both though and don't want to care too much about the meta in this game. So even if it isn't a good idea, still wanted to pull for more copies of Pollux anyway.

Heck, even before pulling for my first copy of Pollux, already been hearing about how he wasn't that good and can safely be skipped. But didn't want to do that. Didn't want to separate the brothers. Wanted them both on my account.

Anyway, much later, after unlocking the Events part of Morimens, got to borrow and try out a fully maxed out support Pollux. He really helped in beating the fights in the event and helping me farm the materials needed to buy stuff from the event shop.

This was especially because my chars were at such a low level when compared to him. Couldn't even level up the skills of my chars yet since that option was still locked for me.

I thought that support Pollux was really good and powerful. Of course, he was fully maxed out and built. And I doubt I'll ever be able to get my own Pollux to that level, certainly not anytime soon. But still. That just made me more interested in Pollux.

Also, been trying to learn more about Castor and Pollux but still don't know much about them yet. Will need to increase their Affinity (which seems to be similar to Bond in the Fate/Grand Order (FGO) mobile game) to unlock more of their profile.

But from reading the little bit that's been unlocked, do like them both so far.

Got some messages (like the text messages in HSR) from them too, and I like what I've read so far.

Definitely interested in learning more about them. Not sure, of course, but I think they might actually show up in the main story?

Thanks to their Trial Banners, I know they're Divus (with Castor being Divus: The Onyx Plume and Pollux being Divus: The White Night), not that I know what that means exactly, at least not yet. But while playing through the main story, that word came up like once or so.

There's even talks about the Lightbearers and such, which I know are also related to the twins thanks to the bits of their profile I've managed to unlock so far.

While I like both of the twins, at the moment, feels like I kinda like Pollux slightly more.

Obsidian Wings Banner Pulls Results Part 2

But since Castor is the one who I bring whenever I can borrow a friend support (I almost always borrow the maxed out friend support Pollux I found. Sadly, can't bring 2 of the same char to a fight), I decided to try pulling for more copies of him first to hopefully make him better, especially at being a shielder.

So here are the results of the rest of my pulls on the Obsidian Wings Castor banner:

While in the middle of seeing each pull, the day reset which caused the game to automatically bring me back to the home screen. Honestly, that annoyed me. I suppose it's a good thing that this multi didn't give me a SSR so didn't have to miss taking pics of my pulls.

Morimens Future Plans

And I guess I really do like Pollux a bit more because after those 2 multis, found myself going back to the Sacred Absolution banner. I talk more about the results of the rest of my Pollux pulls in another post.

Guess I'll pull for more copies of Castor later on his rerun. Anyway, seems like he's supposed to be a great enough shielder even at base copy. More copies of him will just make him a great DPS too.

Anyway, still continuing to play through the main story. At the moment I'm writing this part of this post, I'm in Chapter 4, part 4 (Normal mode) of the main story.

My Castor and Pollux are both stuck at level 40 for now. Will need to clear a prerequisite before being able to level them up some more.

For now, just continuing to play through the main story and farming the available event to clear out the shop. Also been checking out some of the other content in the game as I unlock them, but my focus is on the main story and farming the event.

Speaking of the event, looks like I missed Pollux's event by like a few days or so. Ahh, if I'd started playing sooner, maybe I'd have been able to play through his event too. It's really too bad that I missed it. Sigh. Hopefully Pollux's and Castor's events will eventually get a rerun.

Anyway, definitely plan to pull for more copies of the twins. And still need at least 1 copy of Pollux's Wheel of Destiny.

By now their banners are set to end in a few days, but it's fine since the anniversary will start soon which means their rerun banners will also be here soon.
