Protag and family - Lumberjacks apart of a community deep in the woods. What with genetics and all, everyone has big ol’ beards and wear plaid. The protag’s whole dealyo is to meet Paul Bunyan and get their first chin hairs. Antag - Some guy who came in saying he bought all the land and is demanding the lumberjacks continue working for him, but with for less benefits and less replanting of the trees. Gramma - The protag’s grandmother who inspires them to go critter catching and even gives them their first cage trap. Also she’s a little senile and believes Teddy Roosevelt was the second Messiah. 

Mechanics

As mentioned, the main method of catching critters is trapping them. To lure them you have to place their favorite food in the trap, which you learn from the game’s pokedex, Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberyard, With a Few Desert and Mountain Beasts. The protag’s got an uncle who’s a trapper. As you progress through the game you’ll unlock even more methods of catching critters, like a fishnetch for furry trout or a bear pit for Glawackuses.
