The Owlman Of Mawnan
In 1976, two children looked up at a church tower in Cornwall…
…and saw something that should not have been there.
Not quite a bird.
Not quite a man.
Not quite anything that belonged in daylight.
What followed became one of Britain’s strangest modern legends — a story of wings, woods, rumours, drawings, magicians, monsters, and a church that never quite shook off its shadow.
Was the Owlman of Mawnan a misidentified bird?
A hoax?
A piece of folklore given wings?
Or something stranger still?
This is a journey into one of Cornwall’s most unsettling mysteries — where the path runs through old trees, the tower waits above the Helford, and something may still be watching from the branches.
The Owlman of Mawnan.
Cornwall’s winged omen.
