Chief Ocampo, pointing angrily: You were told to stay in the car!
Alex Walker: In my defense, we all knew that I wouldn't.
Chief Ocampo, shouting: THAT'S A TERRIBLE DEFENSE!!
I know I just need to read the original, and maybe then Iâll understand, and I plan to do so. But there is so much about Word of Honour that I still just donât get. Iâm doing a rewatch while waiting for the last couple of episodes, and just being reminded of all that I donât understand.
Like in episode 2, why is Gu Xiang fighting the other ghosts? Is it a ploy on both their parts? Like, do the ghosts realise sheâs trying to come across as friendly to the Chengling and Zishu? Because just the way itâs shot makes it look like theyâre an honest threat to her, but considering her relationship with Wen Kexing, it seems unlikely that most ghosts wouldnât know who she is.
Also still unsure about how much ZZS and WKX know about who the other is and at which point in the series each of them makes their various realisations, versus when they reveal that they know who the other is...
Is there a reddit somewhere or something where I can ask these stupid questions? Iâm also still looking for a good english recap of the episodes to help clear up my confusion on a lot of things...

Honey out of the rock
Rose was the first to visit. Finn was frankly freaked out by Benâs return and didnât trust him and Rey couldnât entirely blame him. Plus he and Janna had a quest to go on, one with less chance of mortal danger, and she wanted him to find his own answers. Maybe then heâd tell her his secret. He thought she already knew, because of the Force, but it didnât work that way. She didnât tell him that, because she knew that wouldnât be a consolation. Poe was very busy trying to find something to do that wasnât being a general, a spice-smuggler or the architect of a galaxy-wide constitution; Rey didnât see how Tatooine could remotely resemble a vacation for him. Chewie had had enough of sand and had issued her a standing invitation to Kashyyk. And the droids wouldnât come on their own, not even to see BB-8. But Rose came, for all that Rey might have thought sheâd be the last.
Rey served blue-milk and local wafers, bread baking very slowly in the deep stone oven. Rose brought a cask of honey and a necklace General Organa had left for Rey. They sat at the low table and Rey saw how an embroidered curtain might look at the window, looped back to show the ridge, the few dappled shadows of the first tree on the round sill. Ben was out there, doing something needful, not fencing with the air. Sometimes, what was needful was sitting with his face turned to the suns, feeling the light, aware she was in the courtyard, re-engineering a vaporator. Heâd tell her later.
âSo, how was it being dead?â Rose said, once the pleasantries were past. Theyâd both been pretending to be General Organa even though she would have laughed at them. It was nice to have her be Rose again and to be Rey.
âNot so bad. It was restful. I suppose it might have gotten lonely after a while. For me,â Rey said.
âWere you sorry to come back?â Rose asked.
âNo, not sorry. A little surprised,â Rey said. âI had thought dead was dead, but not always. Not that you can predict it or I havenât figured that part out yet.â
âWhat about Ben?â Rose asked. Rey admired the way she said the words evenly, no pause before his name, no wobble about calling him Kylo or even mentioning him at all. It was possibly the calmest way that question had ever been asked and Rey knew, Force knew, it had been asked by his mother and father, by his uncle.
âHe didnât like coming back. But he wasnât ready to be dead,â Rey said.
âThatâs a thing? Being ready to be dead? It doesnât seem like most beings are, but they donât get coughed back up like a Wookiee hairball,â Rose said, a little bitterly.
âI think heâd agree with you,â Rey said.
âYouâre glad though, glad heâs back,â Rose said. It wasnât a question, not really. Was she glad her heart beat in her chest? That her soul animated her flesh? She knew Rose grieved for her own losses. There was so much mending to be done.
âIâm glad Ben is here. Iâm glad heâs learning to plant a garden, to bake bread. Itâs good to feel the Force going out like the tide,â Rey said thoughtfully.
âThe tide comes in too,â Rose warned.
âThen weâll learn how to swim. Youâll teach me, maybe,â Rey said, opening the honey. It was gold on the wafer, sweet in her mouth and spicy. She hadnât asked what bees made it. Rose nodded, dipped her own wafer in the honey and ate.
Where can I sign up for this version of parenting?
I have a mostly incoherent rant about The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.  Actually, itâs a rant against the writers, not the character. I get that this is all about wish fulfillment and empowerment and Midge getting to develop into a person she never knew she could be. But who the f*ck is taking care of the kids?  I am a stay at home parent. I have ONE kid. Sheâs almost 10. MY ENTIRE LIFE revolves around who will be taking care of her when.  It takes me a three hour chunk of time to myself to get my brain out of âI will be interrupted any secondâ adrenaline mode.   Sure, I have an orchid kid, not a dandelion. Sheâs anxious, and needy and sure, probably most parents of 10 year olds donât have this much brain drain from it. BUT MIDGEâS KIDS ARE UNDER 5.
I had to stop in the middle of the first episode in the second season because all of a sudden all of the adults in the house are in Paris? Where are the kids? Sure, you can hand off a baby or toddler pretty easily.  But I know these writers have met 4 year olds.  They do not transition easily.
So, basically, I want to scream and yell about how this escapist show is making me feel horrible about my life. I am hoping that the couple of other moms who follow me will feel my pain.
