hiya sweetie!! I hope you're not melting too bad where you are! this summer has been wild with the heat, it's terrible for my little garden :(

"I'm gonna sweat my balls off." Jo huffs, hand firm on her hip while the other acts as a make-shift fan.
Nebraska had been plummeted into what could only be constituted as a fire age. Mother Nature had decided to be cruel to the poor ants scattering around. Weather rotating through dry spells, muggy heat, and dry heat that makes windows sweat. It was like wading through water and, somehow simultaneously, eating sand. This was the kind of heat you'd assumed radiated from the Burning Bush.
It also made your thighs stick to chairs. Which was an experience you'd never encountered until this summer. Anytime you stood, you had to prepare for the odd sting that came along with peeling yourself from the chair.
From the other side of the bar, your brows furrow. Confusion settles over your expression in a way that makes a smile crack across Jo's face.
"You're a woman. You do not have 'balls'. Nor do you have a penis."
Jo snorts, shaking her head. "It's an expression."
She watches as you nod, far away gaze in your eyes. There were times where Jo could see what you were thinking. At this moment: you still didn't quite understand it. She didn't take it personal—being around a socially stunted angel came with moments like this.
"It's very hot." You offer, looking over at her. "My vessels breast tissue will fall off."
Jo has to pause for a moment. She turns her body in your direction, needing the movement to help your words sink into her skin. The straight set of your brows told her you were serious. Gently, a smile tugs at your mouth. That tells Jo you had tried your best with a joke.
And who would she be if she denied you a laugh? Especially when your words were so ridiculous and sincere.
She laughs, a light sound that drifts through the humid air like wind chimes. When Jo laughed her face always softened. Like the front she painted against the set of her mouth melted away. Leaving only the gentle visage of pureness.
"Exactly." She grins, walking towards you. "You want some ice? So your vessels breast tissue doesn't fall off?"
The chuckle you give her feels like Heaven. It makes your eyes light up in a way that always captivated her.
"And I was being sarcastic."
