I’m new to the fandom…what’s spinesies? Sorry for the question
Hey, no worries!
I’m not exactly sure who started it, but I’m pretty sure it started in December 2020. Basically people were saying how it looked like the newsies didn’t have spines because of the effortless way they danced, but Jeremy Jordan couldn’t dance and Ben Fankhauser danced like a deer (giraffe?) on ice.
One thing led to another and eventually people started saying Jeremy Jordan stole the newsies’ spines and sold them. He became known as the spine stealer, there were many memes made about it and I think @broadwaydreamerblog tagged him in one on Instagram and the spine steeler himself (/j) saw it.
Iirc, after this some people were annoyed and I think wanted an apology but Jeremy didn’t seem to be bothered by it.
@wormsies-achrive might have some of the original spinesies posts up.
