Greetings everyone! I welcome you to this Tumblr run by Blaperile.

It is time for me to present to you a project that I’ve been working on, on and off, for the past few years.

This project is called Huisarrest. It is a Dutch translation of Homestuck! So far, I have translated each and every single page up to [S] Flip.

Time for some background information.

Long ago, I used to collaborate with other people on a public attempt on the Mspaforums at translating Homestuck into Dutch (so long ago that I’ve lost track of where that thread used to be on the forums). Unfortunately, activity died out and soon almost nobody was working on it anymore, and we hadn’t even gone very far yet. I hadn’t lost interest yet, but I didn’t want to be the sole remaining contributor, especially because I’d still have to adhere to rules that were set up by other people.

So that’s why I decided to start anew. This time, it would deliberately be a solo-attempt, so that I could go by the rules I made up myself. And so, the concept of Huisarrest was conceived in February 2012.

Back then, I had circa 5000 posts on the mspaforums, and I intended to finish the project by my 10.000th post and post it then. Unfortunately, I’ve hardly managed to work on it as much as I wanted, due to IRL circumstances, and I’ve mainly managed to work on it during summer vacations.

As time went on it became clear I wouldn’t finish in time. But I never wanted to keep it under wraps for longer than that, so I decided I would publish it for my 10.000th post no matter what. And that’s where we stand right now.

I’ve always kept this a secret for everyone but my brother. I never wanted to build up any hype or expectations, so that I could work on it in peace. I never said anything more except for that I was “working on something for my 10.000th post”.

I have decided I will host all of my translated panels on this very Tumblr.

I will have to manually upload all of these panels, obviously, so it will take a while before I’ve uploaded everything I’ve got. And when I do, I’m obviously going to run out of things to post for a while. And obviously I won’t have THAT much time everyday to upload everything.

So this is what I’m going to do. I am going to pull a Hussie, and publish everything under a strict schedule. Starting from today, I will TRY to upload every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 5 pages each day (except when it’s obviously far bigger pages with much more dialog I need to format and such).

This way, it should be slightly easier for me to keep up with this every day, and perhaps to manage to continue translating the rest in the meantime.
