Hi! I'm kind of new to the fandom and I've absolutely fallen in love with the show. As a zennie, I'm kind of wondering why the Eric x Jackie ship is as strong as it is? I can go as far as to say that it's as strong as Donna x Eric if you look at the number of fanfics out there centered around the former. How did the ship become a thing, considering how the show never even entertained that ship in the first pace (at least from what I know)?

The Eric/Jackie ship has a devoted following. It has the most fanfics written for it after Jackie/Hyde.
While the show originally aired, some people shipped Jackie/Eric. On the T7S message board at Fan Forum message board, it was dubbed The Forbidden Ship (years before I ever posted there).
