McCoy is lucky as shit that the week he found out he had Space AIDS, the Enterprise had to stop a generation ship from running into a habitable planet, and the generation ship was run by a computer Spock and Kirk just knew how to operate, and that generation ship computer also randomly just had the Space AIDS cure in it.
If I didn't know any better I'd say this was a contrived TV show plot or something.
And I'm not being a dick calling it Space AIDS. They say when he's cured that his "white corpuscle count" is back to normal. That's what 1960s medicine called white blood cells, which power the immune system. It was an Acquired Immune-Deficiency Syndrome. In Space. Space AIDS.
