shipping naming conventions then:

take half of a ship's character's name and/or object, combine it with other half of character's name and/or object.

in this case: whouffle

who: doctor WHO (any doctor, eleven for easy sakes)

uffle: clara (soufflé, reference to clara baking soufflés in asylum as oswin and references to her failing to bake a soufflés)

shipping naming conventions now:

take both first names of ship and combine it

in this case: elevenclara

eleven (11th doctor) + clara (clara oswald): elevenclara/11clara.

Here it goes.

Back then, whouffle was born following the release of Asylum of the Daleks. Because Clara's hasn't been properly revealed yet and nobody thought better, whouffle came as a result of Who + Souffle; names and objects that back then how shipping naming conventions worked.

Whouffle was used to refer to 11clara (and her echoes) before the announcement of Capaldi as the 12th in June 2013. Then, because it was simpler, they decided to add -aldi (capaldi = 12) to the end of whouffle; whouffaldi (whouffle + capaldi) . and there was another thing; the 50th anniversary (which featured 10, resulting in allonswin (allonsy + oswin) (im not a huge 10clara fan tbh)). With this, they elected to revise the doctorclara naming scheme and added a new name for 11clara; souffez (soufflé + fez) and whouffle relegated to be as doctorclara.

for over a decade, it's always been this. 12clara was always referred to as whouffaldi and whouffle, 11clara was referred to as whouffle and souffez before souffez got dropped by around 2018-2019 due to confusion, whouffle being more recognizable and longer used, and more importantly, simplicity. by now, 11clara is referred to as whouffle by many and 12clara is referred to by both whouffaldi and whouffle which is understandable and annoying since the revision stating that whouffle referred to as doctorclara but can be annoying to someone like me who looks for 11clara content (images/gifs) with majority got taken over by 12clara content.

looking back and now use 11clara/elevenclara and 12clara/twelveclara. im glad we now use this current naming convention because we can denote it more simply but knowing how much tumblr had so many 11clara content lost to time and the amount of 12clara posts via the whouffle tag. it's understandable why this happened.

Because nothing is a coincidence in Doctor Who I choose to believe that when Clara in the Cold war episode asked the Doctor if she did well and he answered "This was not a test Clara" but she needed confirmation anyways it was not only her being insecure since the Doctor has said that she reminded him of someone else but was also immediately connected to Victorian Clara that had to pass the one word test and Doctor's own test in the rooftop with the umbrella. In some way Clara remembers how much she had to prove herself to be a worthly companion in "The Snowmen" since the Doctor was so heartbroken after the loss of Amy and Rory that he didn't want to travel and get hurt by anyone else. This is why the Doctor made it especially hard for Clara even though he was drawn to her from the moment he heard her voice in the Asylum of the Daleks. And because he wanted to immediately give in he put all this supposedly obstacles to keep her away from his hearts. In the Cold War though he is already in full I fancy you so much boyfriend mood both mad with himself that he was gonna lose her again and so relieved she didn't die on him once more that he has to highlight angrily that this was not a test. She has nothing to prove anymore. He almost lost her again and in this moment she cared about how she did? HE WAS GONNA LOSE HER AGAIN! THIS WAS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERED TO HIM! A far cry from "The Snowmen" when they were so close to dying and he kept testing her! As the time goes by she is much more than the mystery worth solving. She has also become someone that the Doctor cares deeply about and it doesn't hurt that she is also the girl that he shouldn't fancy but he does anyways (Moffatt's words not mine)!
