glint lore for sos if i’m allowed (aka i had thoughts tm):

- they travel in packs, and are one of the few classifications of creatures that can pass through any/all rune barriers. ie what big mama has protecting the nexus watchers from the stray bits and spells from the fighters, or what draxum /had/ on the lab and farm to protect his family from the watchful eyes of outsiders. bc of this they where used to pass letters of all sorts in the old days, but seince they got even smaller this practice has been abandoned

- they, like their more aquatic cousins, love to hang around kappa and other mystic fulled species. granted this is a train found in most wyrm species but it’s extremely prevalent in theses little guys. it’s one of the sure fire wats to find a kappa settlement!

- the packs can get so big that they all blend together, like what’s depicted in this comic.

- they love shiny lights, and little olive was snacking on mikey’s nimpo after the light show attracted the pack.

- they all form superficial ‘bonds’ with each other, though theses are very easy to override as its more like borrowing your friends coat then eating part of your friends soul.

- that being said, and i’m gonna be real i was not paying any attention if they have a canonical way to bland w someone, bonding with a glint is very different then a wyrm. 1st off, they are much smaller and demand much less energy so it’s far easier to bond with 2-4 of them, ie the amount you would want for the lil guy to be healthy. 2ed, instead of amplifying thier bonded ability, they instead act like small batterys! they will store thier bounds mystics and hold onto it until a, needed for food, or b, taken back by the one who gave it to them. the mind meld ability is a constant though

- as mentioned above, it’s far healthier for the little guys to have more then one of thier kind if they are to be taken from their pack, and abandonment is near certain death. all other wyrm sub species can work as pack substitutes, or bonding with one when you already have a bound soul (not at all recommended, and highly dangerous)

A twelve page grayscale comic. the first panel is a thin shot showing the sky, some trees, and the city in the far background. it is titled “the hidden city”

the next one shows a rats view of raph (2012) and onix (2018 raph) walking. they are on a sidewalk with an empty gutter all made of cobble. they are chatting and raph had patches on his pants.

the second panel is of a wyrm getting shooed away with a broom, holding something with its middle limbs.

the next is a zoomed out shot of the wyrm running across the narrow street as the welder of the broom turns tail.

the fifth panel shows raph wincing as his nimpo activates, a sound affect of ‘bonk!’ taking up the lower left section. raph has a bandage in his cheek and a loose sweater on.

the next shots shows the wyrm shacking its head, puffed up and still clutching its prize.

the seventh shows the wyrm taking a blind jump onto the sidewalk, right as raph steps forward.

the eighth shows the wyrm bunched up as it crashes into raphs heal, dropping its crumb and with the sound affect of “Bonk!” escaping the confines of the panel.

the ninth shows raphs wrapped hands reaching for the wyrm and onix dancing away, as the two shout. “GET IT ONI!” “*FUCK* NO!”

the tenth panel shows the lil guy running head first into onixs coiled tail with more shouting and sound affects. ‘Bonk (3.0)’ “ONIX!” “I DIDNT MEAN TO!”

the eleventh shows raph picking the wyrm up, with onix sending a nimpo hand just above raphs. her tail is coiled and the wyrm is in a ball. they continue to talk. “wimp” “dude, it’s like NYC rats, mega dirty!”

the final shows a headshot of both turtles, both banged up and nimpo active. onixs spikes are extended and she’s missing teeth, where raph has a bruise on his right cheek and wrinkled snout. they continue to talk as raph holds the wyrm to his chest.

first off: the witch in non binary and uses they/he, but i don’t have a name for him yet so… they are a prominent scam artist in witch town, and with how little human knowledge has seeped into the hidden city specifically over the last ~4 years it’s had to know how much the human dollar is worth. hence this witch’s scams.

El is the only one trusted to go to witch town after both of the twins messed up their chances, haru will get distracted, and all three of her (turtle) siblings will start a fight, blow something up, or take 4 times as long to get half the things on the list. she is the most in-experienced with shopping though, and tends to not bargen or will just take what she wants. or, in this case, threaten the seller into giving her what she wants. no, no one has caught into this yet.

crow is originally a street wyrm that the witch just picked up and shoved in a cage with a few others to sell! the only people this has worked on are the few tourists or travels from other city’s, where the wyrm problem isn’t so bad. speaking of, lore for the sos world and wyrms!

- the hidden city has a problem with them. so do many other big cities, the the hidden city, also called the bejeweled city, is especially bad, just like its top side counterpart! a very common water source in the hc are glass berries, and they are stuffed with mystics due to their growing conditions. wyrms love the things, and bc they have so much extra energy they tend to reproduce like rabbits.

- glass berries are small clear berries that are mostly water, mystics, and the tiniest amount of fiber to hold them together. the seeds are tiny and like banana or grape seeds, un-noticeable by most standards. they need to be grown in damp and mystic filled areas, like witch town or near/on communal wells. like urban wild blackberries or alley fruit trees, they tend to be picked by anyone/anything regardless of who/where they are planted.

- wyrms are considered pests by all but spell casters, then they are just considered live components. some consider them pets or companions, but those folk are few and far between for the pure amount that are in the hc. pet wyrms are well taken care of and the bigger ones are considered a luxury pet strangely enough. big mama was even rumored to have one, back when her Phoenix Champion was still around.

the 2ed panel depicts El walking down the street with phone in hand, a witch merchant to the left shouting. the witch looks human, but has no nose. they have curly hair and is in a corset and long skirt.

panel three shows the witch turning to El and shouting “You there! you look like a promising young witch! do you like bargains? because i have one!” El has turned the face the witch.

the fourth panel takes the length of the next two rows on the left side, show a full body shot, who is in a full length skirt and her brothers hoodie. her mask is typed like rabbit ears, and she holds a shallow garden basket full of things. El uses her nimpo to put her phone away.

the fifth panel is if El rubbing the back of her head and going “sure”. the witch has clapped their hands and is smiling “Yay!”

the sixth shows the witch’s hand as the jester to a too-big cage with a shivering blob in it. they are saying “See i have a wyrm that had eggs, can’t take care of them all and can’t release them. want the last one?”

the seventh is zoomed in on the blob, showing the back half of a wyrm. the little thing is shivering and has its tail and back fur clumped up. they have several arrows pointing at them, saying “sick” “dirty” “not a baby” “ribs” and shaking”.

the next panel shows El with an unimpressed look, one eye brow arched and a frown. she had the title “the ‘do i look stupid’ look”.

the ninth shows the witch with one hand on their hip and the other waving in the air as they speak. “all i want is 200 human dollars! cheep, right?” El is rolling up one sleeve.

the tenth panel shows el grabbing the cage and looming over the witch. she has a ninja star in the other hand. “i’ll be taking him; but for free <3~ i’m sure you understand.”

pumpkin has been fed by half the town for the last 20 or so years, never really choosing any particular family or individual to keep an eye over. she almost joined doc, when doc was still young. but doc deliberately didn’t feed her, not wanting a fluffy animal known for knocking things over in the only doctor’s “office” in the area.

then comes along splinter and his kids. the kids are loud and always moving, but splinter is calm and, regardless of how he may present himself, comes from a very long and powerful line. it only takes a few days before pumpkin decides that this still mildly depressed rat-man is her ‘person’, and their loud family hers to guard.

Pumpkin and JellyB do Not get along at first, but after a few scraps they get along fine. there is a constant fight for onix, raph and caseys attention, as the three are, to the cats prospective, from both families. this is mostly solved by giving both attention, or by ignoring them.

however they both want their families safe, and the other is no more a threat to anyone then any of the actual cats, the dog(s) or the wyrms. Though the wyrms come much latter then any of the others, so by then the two are used to other pets.

also, excuse the inconsistent sizing of pumpkin and splinters wings, i havent decided how big pumpkin is so things are a lil wonky. its also been a hot minuet since i last drew feathered wings in a comic form, so im out of practice keeping it consistent lol.

context for splinter: (and spoilers if you are reading the fic)

their nimpo is a miner shape shifting, allowing them to grow or change the shape of preexisting limbs. he used to shift a lot pre big mama, but after being in her nexus he stopped. he can’t hold a human face for more then a hour or so, and thats without shifting his tail away.

however! post shredder (it’s only a few weeks post shredder in this comic) splinter takes to using his wings as sun blocks in bluebell, the city attached to the farm. aka trying to build his mysic reserves back up so he can shift more and more.

for the record, every new colour used in the sketching/line art is me taking a break to work on sm else lol. i love pumpkin but sometimes these comics can grate on me when my tablet cant handle doing em.
