A tawse is a leather strap with one end split into prongs. It was used for corporal punishment and the use of a tawse was sometimes referred to as tawsing, but sometimes strapping or belting. According to the Wikipedia page it was used for both spanking and hitting the palm of the hand. It causes a stinging pain that gives way to a burning pain, though the exact experience of the pain is impacted by factors like the number of strokes.

As for how vikings viewed left-handedness, with the records we do have of the viking age it appears that it wasn’t often mentioned and didn’t seem to hold much if any cultural value. But according to what the Viking Answer Lady found and compiled, there is a mention of “left-hand men” used to refer to one’s enemies or adversaries.

on an unrelated note i get so overwhelmed after being around people that i sit on the floor and space out while crying almost daily <3 one time i looked at the clock after and it had been 3 hours <3

when i was a kid i only wore monochrome yellow outfits because 1. my favorite color has been yellow since i found out what yellow is, 2. all outfits must be the same color, and 3. yellow is good luck and if i don't wear yellow i will have bad luck.

i use a top sheet on my bed because i dislike the texture of blankets on my skin at night.
