Stage Manager, to Stage Crew, who are holding blue fabric for a water scene:
SM: Because it’s rehearsal, just hold it for ten seconds, and if we don’t tell you to drop it by then, assume we’ve forgotten about you, and drop it.
Director: We don’t want your arms getting tired!
SM: Yes, we’re going to run this scene four times in a row, so get ready.

I’m in the audience at a show tonight with a takeover ASM (whose bio is in the stuffer, as it should be) and the girl behind me is a Theater Fan who is really know-it-all-ing it up for her normie cousins(?) and was like “They have a lot of understudies on but for some reason the stage manager is listed too?? Like that’s so weird, she’s not an understudy??”

Judgey Sims 😒
Anyone else have sims that are suddenly extra judgmental of the décor. I mean I have sims cancelling interaction just to head over to a piece of décor and go "Wow I hate this so much, and now I'm super tense, but what did you want me to do again?"
Just wondering so I know if my sims shouldn't be allowed to have décor likes and dislikes or if this is a universal rebellion against all watchers 🤣
Nightmare Ensemble Girl just popped a can open in the wings during a book scene. Just an absolutely oblivious human being. And the best (worst) part is that she was ON THE WAY DOWNSTAIRS. Like bitch wait literally FOUR (4) SECONDS until the audience can’t hear you, what is WRONG with you.
One of my favorite things in life is the little rituals that develop backstage during a run. I have an actor who checks in with me re: his props before his first entrance every performance and it has evolved from me giving him a thumbs up to a full secret handshake. It’s in the runsheet as “check in with Sam” but it’s a whole routine at this point.
Like don’t get me wrong, I love calling shows. But there is something so fulfilling in ASMing that I don’t get when I’m the PSM.
