Working in theater production is fun cuz you come home and discover a brand new muscle you never knew you could use
Production Manager: oh it was terrible. But it went fine
nothing will ever be more insane than what happens in a high school theater company. in mine our costume room was right above the gym and you could hear shoes squeaking and boys yelling through the vents during the day. once i spent 30 minutes getting a cart up there bc our school didn't let students use the elevator. our woodshop had several cracks in the walls and the ceiling that you just had to question the structural integrity of the overall building. all of our directors were millennials who weren't paid enough to deal with our skibidi sigma 6 7 jokes but laughed at them anyway. during weekend rehearsals only the arts hallway would have the lights on so i would always take someone with me to go to the bathroom bc it was too scary in the dark. we used condoms to cover mic packs. in my junior year there were so many couples in our company that we had a no pda backstage rule. that same year our music director was caught eating his dinner on the live monitor that we had to see him conducting. his chewing was so loud. the lead for our fall play (the play that goes wrong) was a tiny insecure 16 yr old boy who cheated on one of my best friends. our choreographer liked to put on mousercise as a warmup during tech week and once the crew was forced into it. our company traditions on show nights happened in the cafeteria. crew had our own tradition where we screamed outside right after bows and you could probably see some audience members looking very concerned as they were leaving. painting. so so so much painting.

Lighting Op: there is a real possibility that I'm just not going to bother with color paths for this recital and every cue is going to have a lovely rainbow train of colors leading into it
[on comms]
Lead Stage Tech: Its an important question about whether [mini production manager] can have rainbow jello. Just so everyone knows.
Office Staff: [on internship duties] 'We'll teach you sound but you also have to push this fruit man around.'
