🔮 — I don’t really know what they do next! I’ve spent most of my energy re Long Distance since posting turning over the experience from Pete’s perspective, since as people have pointed out he’s having a spy thriller while Ray’s having a painful delayed completely mundane coming-of-age. they definitely move away but I don’t know how far — the ray of long distance is a littleee different from the ray of time loop verse but I still find it hard to pull him away from ginnie and hard to figure out what he would like concretely Do for the resistance in a way that feels grounded instead of like a YA novel about the teenage chosen one leading the revolution, you know? I think he can do better than he initially does in time loop verse but that’s for a later fic maybe. & the other reason I find it hard to conceive of what happens post long distance is I want him to make up with Jan really bad but that doesn’t feel hugely realistic :(

🥇— spent gladiator’s writing process was super weird since it was supposed to be way shorter and slice of life-y, but then I wanted pete to have a coherent arc and it became a whole thing. so there was no one scene I was looking forward to writing since it grew kind of organically. but what I had the most fun writing was the stuff I put off doing because I was scared of getting it wrong — the two reconciliations, with ginnie and with Pete, flowed really naturally and I was really satisfied with the end product, the ginnie scene especially
