absolutely!! and it's not all that much bother at all tbh, these books aren't too long and even the characters with the most screentime aren't too hard to collect. the posts are definitely going to be image-heavy though (unless i just make text transcripts instead of doing them alongside pictures of the book pages), so i might or might not split the longer ones up into multiple posts. i'll also try to edit in references/cameos of a character from other books as they pop up, like happens with skarlagk in age of the amulet for example.

Well, what do we know about this guy?

In Murder Speculation Part 1, Kaname gets a brief mention when SHIKI tells Akitaka that "aniki" should be the one he's serving and not her, though her older brother does not appear onscreen.

In The Hollow Shrine (at least in the novels), he's mentioned by Shiki in her narration as one of the family members who came to visit her in the hospital post-coma and was even mentioned to have had a brief chat together with her while they were there.

In Murder Speculation Part 2 (see above), he can be briefly seen in the flashback Shiki had of her younger days looking forlornly at his younger sister.

So how close were he and Shiki as siblings?

Well, according to Nasu and Kara no Kyoukai's side materials, the two siblings were, and probably still are, tight and close as siblings should be, which is surprising given a.) Shiki's nature as a misanthrope b.) The whole heir to the Ryougis schtick that was passed down to Shiki, the younger sister, instead of him, the older brother and c.) The Ryougi family traditions that did not accept family members as equals. Shiki even called him "onii-chan" (which was adorable btw) in the flashback that she had revolving around a fond memory of her childhood.

Apparently, in their younger days at least, Kaname was the only person she ever allowed to touch and fix her hair, a tabooed privilege not even Mikiya was exempt from.

As mentioned, he also visited Shiki in the hospital after she woke up from her two year coma, and had a brief (and according to Shiki, hearty) conversation with her while he stayed.

His personality according to Nasu, was Gackt-like (whatever that means, though it can be assumed that he had an eccentric personality despite artwork saying otherwise).

While he started living away from the mansion in movie 4, he doesn't have any job of sorts. In a sense, he's still being taken care of, with the most likely reason being that he becomes the successor if anything should happen to Shiki, the main heir.

Nasu's nickname for him is "Ryougi Utsukushibiitsu".

And apparently Shiki calls her big brother a NEET nowadays instead of "onii-chan!"...
