@tervaneula said: Oh that sounds awesome!! The books seem heavy in a way that I wouldn't be able to read them so if you really have the time and stamina to do this, I bet lots of people would be grateful. I'm especially interested in hearing more about Skarlagk and Ballustra 👀

absolutely!! and it's not all that much bother at all tbh, these books aren't too long and even the characters with the most screentime aren't too hard to collect. the posts are definitely going to be image-heavy though (unless i just make text transcripts instead of doing them alongside pictures of the book pages), so i might or might not split the longer ones up into multiple posts. i'll also try to edit in references/cameos of a character from other books as they pop up, like happens with skarlagk in age of the amulet for example.
i've already got tellad-urr's screencaps and am working on transcripts and character-relevant summaries to go in-between, i'm hoping to have it up before too long.
Yyyooooooooooo okay sorry for barging into your askbox just like this but boy do I love it that you like my doodles!!! Ahahaha that Finnish mulkvisti thing “one I don’t hate as much as the others” is not really true, I guess it's the commenter's inside joke or something since usually it means something like "dickhead" or "fucker". ALTHOUGH I admit to using those English words as endearments but only when talking about fictional characters haaaahhh
ahaha oh man for real? It was a hilarious thought while it lasted, then. Good to know what it really means! Thanks for the info. :')
Personally I think that's from a Finn to Finns, I mean every single Finnish person on Tumblr knows English to some extent but that is not the case the other way round. So don't worry, you're not meant to find it funny. :D Also I actually had a British teacher who would talk like straight from a textbook (it even sounded very natural, it was music to my ears) so the formality in those sentences isn't that far-fetched. That's the English we Finns are taught in school, by the way.
I wasn’t trying to cause an upstart, just trying to point out that it wasn’t really conversational English. Sure, it was proper, but it wasn’t what you’d normally hear from an native English speaker, I guess ^^;

Shhh dude chill out :D I can only guess but I'm pretty sure the maker of that "A lesson in Finnish" purposefully chose extremely formal British English sentences to make the Finnish equivalents seem funnier, no need to get your circuits in a bunch. ;)
I mean, I expected some exaggeration, sure, but the Engish ones….hurt to read, is all. No one is that painfully formal… I’m sure the literal translation of those English phrases to Finnish would be long, too. It was just….weird….and painful….
