Shot timers are one of the most useful products for training. It’s often hard to measure raw performance. A shot timer allows you to see exactly what’s going on during live fire. If you’re dry firing, you can set a par time and still work high standards of speed and manipulation without firing a single shot. CQBR pistol build and one of my favorite training tools... a shot timer. The most effective tool to verify speed performance. Just because something "felt" faster doesn't mean it WAS faster. A timer won't lie. It'll tell you if you're fast or slow. Timers can be found at every shooting school in special operations, and for good reason. - #pacttimer #shottimer #eotech #peq15 #surefire #cqbr #mk18 #arpistol #sbbrace #geissele #trainingcan #kestrelperformance #trexarms #trexarmskydex
Shot timers are the only way to truly measure your balance of speed and accuracy. You can track splits. Transition times. Movements. Draw times. And set par times. What might "feel" faster may not be faster. A shot timer will tell if it really was or not. - Because of how important I believe shot timers are to increasing shooting performance, we offer them on our site. One of the best $130 you can spend on your training. - #pacttimer #shottimer #shootingperformance #zev34 #zevtech #glock34 #uspsa #glock #training #trainhard #trainright #trexarms #trexarmskydex
PACT timers in stock. I'm a big fan of utilizing shot timers in training. There are few ways to measure exact performance when it comes to shooting. It's hard to improve if you can't quantify the performance of your training. Whether it's accuracy or speed. Shot timers allow you to analyze down to the hundredth of a second to maximize efficiency. Professional shooters use them. Grandmasters use them. Special operation guys use them. So should we. - #shottimer #pacttimer #multicam #ragnarok #ragnarokholster #glock #glock19 #surefire #owb #kydex #orionbelt #orion #training #trainsmart #trexarms #trexarmskydex
Back in the Spring I was looking for ways to help improve how I train and shoot out at the range. Unfortunately I’m not the best at keeping steady with any particular training routine and that’s not just for firearms, but also for most anything. I do what I can when I have the time and I also recognize when it’s been a while since doing something in particular and I will circle back to it. Just being honest, that’s just how it’s been for me. So with that said, I try and make the best out of any training session I have. For firearm training I have some of the MantisX products such as the BlackbeardX and laser academy, but at the range doing live fire, I didn’t really have much to help me. I had tried out a number of phone applications that had shot timers, but they just didn’t work, so I finally decided to pick up a true shot timer from Brownells and decided to try out the Competition Electronics ProTimer with the Bluetooth option. Brownells does stock quite the variety of Shot timers but this one seemed to have a nice balance of cost and features for what I was looking for in a shot timer.
This particular shot timer is made here in the U.S. and comes with a 2 year warranty. The simple fact that it’s made here is quite impressive with so much electronics made overseas then marked up tremendously. The box is simple and it came with instructions. The Bluetooth option is so that the timer as it records strings of fire, you can then transfer those to the application via Bluetooth and then save your shot strings to a spreadsheet or keep track of them. It’s a nifty option for those really trying to dial in their training to a much higher level than where I’m at presently. The timer has an easy to read backlit screen as well as 4 buttons. The shot timer sensitivity can be adjusted which I ended up having to tweak a bit to get the desired shot recordings. The shot timer also has a port to attach to a headset if so desired. These are all very useful features even though my plan isn’t to use all of them. The application interface connects easily enough, but I didn’t find myself really needing to use it at this time. I’m just not at that level where I need to really keep track of my shot times to that degree. Basically for me, I like to keep track of my shot times when I’m doing repetition so that I can see how I’m improving at that particular range session. The estimated battery life is 20+ hours using a 9V battery which so far has been accurate.
After using the Competition Electronics ProTimer over the past few months, I must say that overall I’m very happy with it. If I had to give it any sort of complaint at all it would be the overall size. It’s rather on the large size. I guess that helps to have a large enough screen to read, but I’d have preferred it to be just a touch smaller. In regards to the Bluetooth option, looking back it’s most likely not really necessary for my use. Yes it is nice to have, but if I ever need to purchase one in the future, I’ll most likely pass on the Bluetooth option. But if you’re in the market for a new shot timer I highly recommend checking this one out. It’s very reasonably priced and so far has done everything I’ve asked of it.
