Heqakheperre Shoshenq II, aka Shesonq II, was an Egyptian 𓂋𓐝𓎀𓀂𓀭𓏪 “rmT” king of the 22nd dynasty of Egypt - Beloved Land 𓇾𓌸𓂋𓆵𓇋𓊖𓊖 “tA-meri”. 𓏤 He was the only ruler of this Dynasty whose tomb 𓇋𓂝𓂝𓉴 “ia” was not plundered by tomb robbers. His final resting place was discovered within an antechamber of Psusennes I's tomb at Tanis by Pierre Montet in 1939.𓏤 Montet removed the coffin lid of Shoshenq II on March 20, 1939, in the presence of king Farouk of Egypt himself. It proved to contain a large number of jewel-encrusted bracelets and pectorals, along with a beautiful 𓄤𓆑𓂋 “nfr” hawkheaded silver coffin 𓏘𓂋𓋴𓊭 “qrsw” and a gold 𓋞 “nbw” funerary mask.𓏤 The gold facemask (see photo) had been placed upon the head of the king.
