The fireworks have started already so I put Petey in her Thundercoat....
She then, jumped behind me to hide. That wasn't enough to make her feel safe so she decided to sit on me...
It was becoming a bit of a challenge to breathe, with a 70 pound lap dog sitting on my chest, so I gave her some CBD and a little bit of melatonin. I, also, scratch her ears every time I hear the start of some loud noise, which calms her down. That and my turning up the volume,on the TV, seemed to help her a lot because, now, she's all spaced out, laying on the bed, ensconced in the blankets, and she's very relaxed and not bothered by anything, at all, anymore. I didn't even have to put her noise canceling headphones on her head. I'll use them tomorrow.
I looked out my front door to see who was causing all this noise, and I found my 70+ year old neighbors outside blowing things up!! I did not expect that, but they're having a blast so I'm happy for them!!
I hope my car is okay out there.🤣🤣🤣 Petey is, happily, watching TV in our bed, now, so she's good to go!! I know that these neighbors of mine will adhere to the curfew for lighting fireworks so we only have 25 more minutes to go!! At least, I hope that they do 🙏🏼🥳🎉🎊🎇🧨🎆💥
All the noise has stopped on schedule. I love that!! ❤️ I took off Petey's thundercoat, and she's all perky. We just went outside!! She's doing very well, this year. It's amazing the calming effect that coat has on her. By gently squeezing her body, it slows down the flow of blood, therefore, lowering her blood pressure and calming her down. I do the same thing with people who are having an anxiety attack. I just hug them, as tight as I can, for as long as they will let me, and they calm down from it. It's amazing the things we can do to help each other with love. No meds needed, just love and common sense. I hope tomorrow night goes as well as tonight did, for my girl. I think it will. I'm going to make sure it does because I love Petey!!! ❤️
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!🥳🎉🎊🎇🎆🧨💥🫂🫂🐕❤️❤️😁✨️
